Running The Race
Deanna entering and running her 5k has made me stop and think...
I am so proud of Deanna for being brave enought to enter her 5k run, for training towards it, for actually going ahead with it, and for completing it.
But do you know what? I'm also so proud of all of us, for being brave enough to contemplate WLS, for 'training' towards it, for actually going ahead with it, and now for being on the run.
I am so proud of all of my friends here on this board for their persistance. If you read Deanna's post about the run, she comments about how at a bridge, she wanted to stop running and walk. (Note that it was never an option to give up and not complete the 5k). All of us have done the same - we have hit 'bridges' in our WLS journey, but have kept on going. We have all made that commitment to keep on going and have chosen that giving up is not an option for us.
We may not be running the whole way, but we are still going. I want to encourage everyone *****ads this that you are doing great. When you hit a bridge, keep going. Even when you can't see what's over the 'hump'. It doesn't matter whether you arrive at the finishing post (whatever, wherever that is for you) first, last or inbetween. What matters is that you have kept on going. You have 'run the race'.
So not only do I want to be a cheer leader for Deanna, I want to be a cheer leader for all of you.
