Style... what do you fancy yourself most. Are you a minimalist, do you have tons of stuff through out your home. Do you like modern, landscapes, seascapes. What art form best describes your home and personality. Espeically if they are different.
I love abstract. The squares, cirles and lines on art work in my home. I go with more nutral colors like beiges, avacado, deep red/marron, orange.. that kind of thing. I also put a modern flare to it like in my kitchen. it is black maroon and deep green with a french cafe style look, while in my bedroom also deep green I have more of a modern asian feel. I like a lot of styles but with a central color contrast I guess.
As far as real art.. the kind you look at when you go to a museum.. I have always enjoyed the age of rebirth. I think their is a modern flare to the paintings as well for that time period. I love the detail to the human body and the concepts of what, we as humans should look like. Of course I enjoy the more modern period as well but find some of the stuff a little to much.. I am more picky in modern likes..
My home is more minimalistic in manner although my children would love to have everything plastered ever where. My mother had so much stuff around the house it would take me hours to dust one room so I hate clutter and just wont have it in my home.
I'm definately not a minimalist but I really like everything to have a place. I like organization, although my kids don't let me do that very often! My decorating style is a country cottage/shabby chic sort of blend. I like colors like light blue, pale yellow, and sage green accented with bright white. I don't have a white wall in my house because I enjoy colors! My kitchen has a vintage/farm house feel to it.
As far as real art ... I'm not into modern art at all. I like to look at a painting and see a picture, not shapes and weird abstracts.
