Post Lent Fast
I have eaten way too much chocolate over Easter, so am going on a Post Lent Fast - I know I know it's supposed to be the other way around, but that's me all over!! My husband always gives something up for Lent and I don't but am really feeling the need right now.
So starting tomorrow - Wednesday (it's too late for today )I am going to fast for 4 weeks from:
All refined sugar products. So that doesn't include things like fruit, etc.
Does anyone want to join me? You can fast from what you like, it doesn't have to be the same as me. It's just the same as 'staying on track' and what we should be doing anyway, but for me to view it as fasting will help me (I think!!)
Plus, I will not be legalistic with myself or others joining me (or expect anyone else to be for themselves or others either) - so if I / we don't succeed one day, I am not going to beat myself up over it, just pick myself up, dust myself off and start afresh the next day.
Happy Fasting
Hi Ruth,
I'm with you on getting back on track...starting today I am going to write down everything that passes these lips!! So far I have had a coffee and a SB protein bar,but its still early yet!! Oh and a few grapes!
When I posted last night,I also am tired all the time lately...is anybody else?? I just don't have the energy everyone else seems to have! I am going to make an appointment with my surgeon in June. I work at the school,so will be off for the summer,I just must be lacking something!!!
As far as chocolate,I never was into candy that much,so I haven't eaten any since my surgery! So I am going to fast on quit eating!!!!
OKay Ruth, I am with you on this one!
I had been baking up a storm last week and eating everything I was making. It was delicious and even in small amounts bad bad bad for me. I gained 3 lbs in just one week eating the breads and other goodies I created for my family.
I am therefore, fasting from all simple carbs. No more snack crackers or breads or rice that have little to no protein in them.
Good luck to us, even though I usually post only once or twice a week I will be sure to check in more often ( especially to account for myself if I struggle at 24 hours!) HaHa

I will join you on this. One of my per ops food problems is ice cream.. I just love the stuff and lately I have been doing the sf ice cream thing way to much. I tossed all of it out the other day to take that temptation away. So I am not going to eat ice cream. this is gonna be tough as i just love the stuff but I can do this. Well here we go.. got it maked on my calendar.. 4 weeks without ice cream should break the cycle.
Just FYI.. i read the other day that with wls patients ice cream is one of the things we actually do absorb because of its make up. So when other nutruious food is passing us by we get every calorie and bad thing from ice cream.. thats what really give me this push to stop eating the stuff..
yeap.. they are all like that.. apparently they absorb quite well into our bodies and we get the majority of the calories and bad stuff.. trust me I wasnt happy when I saw that as I love ice cream and find it one of the joys I didnt want to do with out and when I saw sf I thought I had died and gone to heaven... But than again. its what got me here to start with so I guess its better to give it up. I lost the 2 pounds I gained already just stopping the night time ice cream snack I was having so it must be true.. grrr...
Hi Ruth!
Can I join too??? I need this REALLY bad! The candy monster keeps shoving candy down my throat. Ha, ha, ha!
I vow to eat NO candy for 4 weeks. My weakness is small chocolate candies so none for me during this period. This will be TOUGH!
Are you going to do any sort of daily or weekly posts for those of us trying to do this?
By the way, I love your latest avatar picture ... you look sooooooo skinny!
