QOTD? I miss those
As we approach the spring holidays (we're in passover now) my question of the day revolved around the holidays!
QOTD: What is your favorite holiday and why?
Hugs, ANDI
I love halloween, you get to dress up and then people give you candy, i decorate the whole yard and I really love it, the crisp air *my birthday*, the coming of the big holidays...it invigorates me. Hugs, ANDI
Christmas would be my favorite holiday. I live in a Christmas light district so we have thousands of people driving and walking by our house every night. It takes us about a week to decorate the front yard. We have over 30 yard art items, 10 blow ups and 5000 lights to put up. During the christmas season we have tons of parties on the street and hang out with the neighbors the whole season. We also sit in the front yard with our fire pit and wave at people going by. There is actually carts, trollies and buggies that drive up and down the streets with people looking at the lights. It's a lot of fun for the whole family. I usually take the whole time off from work to make candy, cookies and stuff with the kids and we give them out for presents to all the family members... its a great family time of year.
My second favorite is Holloween. We build a haunted house every year as like christmas we get a lot of folks coming. Last year we estimated over 2500 kids came to our door. I love scaring the kids with the haunted house and passing out candy. It's another fun time on the street for all. The kids love it cause they get to go trick or treating of course, but I love it for the tricking... lol
you go girl cause there'd be no way i could spend $300 on candy, toys maybe or goodies yes but candy no way! The christmas bill is to be expected. I don't usually give out candy for Halloween i know that's rather sacrilege but i give out things, pretzels, microwave popcorn, pencils, erasers, decks of playing cards...something that is non candy. My son is pre-diabetic and i find halloween so stressful. ANDI
I really love Easter! I love shopping for goodies to put in my kids' Easter baskets. I love having them put their baskets at the front door and then wake up and go find them filled with goodies. Then we go down to my Dad's house and go to church with my side of the family. Afterwards we have lunch together and hide Easter eggs for the kids ... the plastic kind that you fill up with stuff. To me, that is just a super fun day and I'm really looking forward to Sunday!

It's Christmas for me. I think it's magical - well the thought if it is. I still have all those movie images in my head, the excitment of childhood, the anticipation, the hollywood versions! I always wish for snow at Christmas even though we very rarely get it. My favourite movie is 'White Christmas'.
I just wish people didn't get so stressed at Christmas.
