**Sigh**
It's taken 3 months to lose 13lbs. Overall I've lost 84lbs which is great and don't get me wrong I'm really pleased I'm not 84lbs heavier, but that's an average of 2lbs a week. Thats' what other people lose on a normal diet. I'm supposed to have restricted absorption. I'm eating 1000 or less a day. I've tried everything to increase the loss, you name it I've given it a good go, but nothing gives.
I feel like either giving up or joining the May board for this year as they'll soon have lost more than me at this rate!! (**sense the sarcastic humour**)
I'm not looking for answers from anyone as I know there aren't any. What works for one person doesn't work for another. I know I'm not alone in this - I know there are others of you struggling too, aren't there. I'm just having a moan. Maye I'll go back and have my pouch made even smaller and more intestines bypassed - that might work??? What do you think?
sigh!!!
I feel for you... I truly do... but I would say that your body is taking care of you instead of you taking care of it.
while many thought I was insane to be on a 425 calorie intake 3-6 months postop, it was effective.
now that I am on 800-1000K I am not losing squat so I can see little effect of absorption and while there is some quantity control, you can by pass it by stretching the intake out over more minutes. for instance, I can, every morning get an entire normal portion of cream of wheat, that is nearly 1 cup in, but I nibble over 30 minutes to do it. that is how I get in those extra calories. so if you measure and eat, and be done, you could makes some SMALL changes, however, for the significant most part, my loss has slowed down to
Ruth.. I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. I will tell you truely what i did and most ppl thought I was crazy. Up til about 2 months ago I was eating 600 calories a day... nothing but protein with a veggie here and there. I would not eat anything that looked like a starch or carb. I was in ketosis the whole time. When I started working out I moved up to 800 calories but made sure I burned most of the excess or more of that at the gym. Now that I am working out more and burning more calories I am eating about 1000 calories but I am burning 800 calories at the gym. I have increase my calories again to about 1100 but again.. i am burning 800+ at the gym. I still havent touched a piece of bread, starch, etc. everyonce in a while I will take one small bite of potato, pasta, but that is it.. you have seen the food I eat.. around 100 grams of protein and I just started to even eat oatmeal a couple weeks ago.
Many say I am nuts but it worked for me. I followed the same diet my friend did who had the surgery. she weighed exactly the same as me and is the same height.. She hit her goal in 10 months too.. Trust me.. this was not an easy task, but I wanted to get here sooner rather than later.
I hope you find what is working for you.. you will get there.. just know that we are all there for you and you will get there.. just relax and let it happen... U know we all love and care about you so much..
I am having the same problem. I have only lost about 20lbs since December. The scale just doesn't seem to move. I read Carlas reponse and I would have to say that is probably what I should be doing. Protein only no starches etc. So maybe I will try that. I am pretty close to goal and would like to at least make 100lbs lost by my May 9th surgery anniversary. That is only 8lbs away, so hopefully I will make it. I also want to lose some more because I have my plastic surgery scheduled for June 4th but may postpone it to lose a little more before I have it done. Good luck to you. It will eventually come off. I feel exactly the way you do, you are not alone.
Amy
I have lost a bit slow too but I was not eating enough and was not droping the weight. Now I go back and forth. I thought I have lost a pound last week but when I looked back ... I didn't ... this week I lost 1...LOL january I lost 4 (for the mth)... I don't know why you losing at a slower rate but, Dont go away....
that's ok,
I had been eating very little like some cheese and tiny bit of stuff. I found I have an extra tiny pouch.(per my doctor).. I would not lose much as my body thought it was starving. I changed vitamins and started eating more meals a day (most days)... I don't eat many carbs except for good ones.(like beans) (no potatoes , bread or pasta)but I found a "fat" meal once in a while made me drop weight. like onion rings. I can eat one or two, or pull of the breading and I might drop a pound the next day. also when I exercised all the time it was bad. My body would hold on to my weight. So now I exercise off and on. When my weight stops I exercise...that seems to help .
(although right now I am so bust getting my store together I have not had any time)
Anyway I hope this helps
Ruth,
Hi! I have been off the board for a few days, been out of town.. I am right there with you! My highest weight was 277, one year ago in March,I am down only 82 pounds by the Drs. scale. That is so bad for me! I will never hit 100 pounds by my surgery date! It seems the more I try .the worst I get! Then I was down to 191-192 and have been having a really stressful couple of months and falling back to my bad habits! Also ate way too much over the weekend and am so mad at myself for it! I came back from NY and am weighing in at 195 now!! Thought I would be done looking at that weight! I think I hit 199 at Christmas and haven't went much farther since!!!
But anyway...thought I would let you know that you are not alone!!
