To Dum*****t to dump??
First off I don't need to be flamed, I know I shouldn't test the limits.
A couple of months ago, I was craving a Reese's cup really bad. My thought was eat one. I'll dump then I'll never want one again. I did NOT dump. I was confused by this because I had eaten a cookie here or there and really felt drained and tired (my version of mild dumping). So now I have to make a definate attempt during my period NOT to fall prey to those pesky chocolate peanut butter cups! I also ate a donut the other morning (a gift to the teachers) NO dumping.
Now here's my confusion:
I didn't dump on the Reese's Cups or the Doughnut but I do dump on the Weigh****chers Snack cakes (only 80 calories so I figured a MUCH BETTER choice than the reese's cups, etc).
Why can I eat those horribly high caloie, high carb foods and can't eat the less offensive alternatives????
Just wondering if anyone else had this happen?
Good questions and no real urge to flame you, mild urge to shake you till your eyes roll but i'm trying to get that under control. There could be a component that makes up the weigh****chers cake that is making you ill not the sugar/fat. The sugar free peanut butter cups are heavenly, could you try those and see if they satisfy what you are craving? Donuts were never my "thing" because in culinary school i learned it could take 2-3 days for a cake donut to be processed completely through your body while it only takes steak 1 day...bizarre. Hugs, ANDI
I dump on protein shakes sometimes, but not chocolate!! I don't get it, and wi**** was the other way around. It would make life so much easier, and act as a deterrant.
Guess we'll just have to rely on our good choices and know that very ocassionally we may stray. But the difference now is that we know how to get back on track and will only stray a tiny bit - not like before.
I have dumped on BBQ sauce and have gotten sick from just tasting a sweet bread thing at christmas so I dont even go there with sweet foods. I also have gotten sick from eating somehting that the fat content was high so I avoid them as well. It seems my pouch is still following all the rules which helps me stay away from that stuff. I even have problems with sugar alcohols.. go figure although its not as bad as it use to be.
I also think i worry myself into getting sick. when I try something new I am so scared it will make me sick i make myself sick. lol... maybe its a good thing.
I'm right there with ya, Mandy! I'm completely the same way ... I wish I'd dump on those kinds of foods! But, I can eat those little "fun size" candy bars, several of them, with no problems at all. I wish I wouldn't have even tested the waters!
BUT, life is about moderation ... why not allow yourself to indulge in a Reeses peanut butter cup during that time of the month? Having them isn't going to hurt you ... it's having them everyday that would! So, it's okay to indulge once in awhile. And if that time of the month makes you crave them, you can allow yourself that treat!
My dietician has told me that depriving youself of something only makes you want it more. I firmly believe that! I was beating myself up over eating something in the evening as a snack and she told me there is nothing wrong with that, and not to feel guilty over it. Just find something that is 200 calories or less and let that be my "splurge" for the day. That is why almost every evening I have a package of South Beach cookies and a sugar free pudding cup. It's only 160 calories but I feel like I'm having a huge treat! It helps me to know that I can have that indulgence at the end of the day!
Anyway, I can truly relate to where you're coming from! In no means am I recommending that everyone go out and eat candy ... but I honestly think that having some candy on occasion won't destroy you! It's about making wise decisions and not feeling guilty for the decisions you make. I don't know if that makes any sense or not!
