How many of you can eat sugar? I havent really tired because I know things like BBQ sauce, which is high in sugar has made me dump a few times. Sugar alcohol is the same way. I can get away with a few hard candies but I do have to be careful cause I can get pretty sick from that as well. I actually eat sf ice cream when I need to go to the bathroom (tmi). If i only eat a little its doesnt give me the terrible stomach ache and gets rid of my problem. I have seen many people who have had wls eat all kinds of sugar and not be affected. In some ways I am glad it affects me because that is one less evil I have to worry about getting hooked on again. So can u eat sugar or does it affect you the same way?

Hi Carla, I can eat some sugar in moderation. It is strange, but I can usually tell just by looking at something whether I will be able to handle it or not. For example, I can have a miniature piece of dark chocolate, but milk chocolate doesn't look good to me. I can eat a cookie, but not cake. I cannot go anywhere near ice cream whether it is sugarfree or not. I say "no way" to sugar alcohols, but "yes" to Splenda. I can't do bbq either, but I can do sugar babies candy in moderation. Hugs, Darlene

Sadly, yes I can eat some sugar (in moderate amounts) without dumping - chocolate, ice-cream. However, I dump on protein drinks and other things that I cannot fathom out why!! So I have to mentally make the choice between eating that item or seeing the scales move. I know which I'd rather happen now (not in my former life though!!)

For me it varies. Something may sit okay one day and then make me sick as a dog the next time. I have found that I can eat a 2 reese's cup pack in about a 30 minute period and be okay. Very small amounts of cake, cupcakes, etc don't make sick most of the time. It honestly just depends on how moody my pouch is on a given day I guess.

Sadly, I haven't found much that makes me sick. I can do BBQ sauce, protein shakes, cookies and even candy. I am not proud by this and in fact I wish I would not have even attempted certain things.... it would be better if I still feared. For instance... the other day I ate a small handful of peanut M&M's and was fine so then I thought "oh geez I can have more" and I did. I started to get a bit burpy but didn't get sick. Kristen

Kristen, I'm totally the same way ... not much bothers my pouch, as far as sugar is concerned. I wish I wouldn't have even attempted to eat these things!!! If I eat too much quantity, I get sick to my stomach but not enough to make me not want to eat these things! Ugh! Deanna

I have not even tried any type of candy, sweets, cakes, cookies and I don't plan on it. I don't even want to know...I am gonna keep believing it will make me horribly sick. It's better that way! I try to not eat anything "extra" that has more than 5 grams of sugar. I can tolerate BBQ, catsup, protein shakes and those types of things.
