Sipping

Ok guys, I find myself with the urge to drink with some meals...maybe just a sip or two but I know it's bad. What I for sure notice is that if I am out to dinner having a glass of wine I can eat WAY more...so I know that is BAD. Also, waiting 1 hour after a "snack" seems impossible to me. If I did that when would I find the time to drink all my liquids? And don't even get me started on breakfast and coffee... Are any of you taking little sips? Come on be honest...am I really hurting anything if I only wait 1/2 hour after a "snack"...I usually don't have a problem waiting the hour after the meal...the snacks are killing me though! Trish

Yes I admit it, I sometimes don't wait... BUT, I do notice that if I drink while I'm eating I eat more or I get hungry quicker, so 90% of the time avoid it. However, I only wait 1/2 hour which is what I was told to do. As long as you know the consequenses (sp?), it is then your choice what you do. Personally I think the odd time is OK as this is a life time thing that we are on. Just don't make a habit of it, try to make the habit of not drinking while eating.

I sip with most of my meals. I have a hard enough time geyting in enough fluids w/o restricting myself even more. For me it does not make me able to eat more, but will cause me to get sick and fill me up unless I just sip.

Hi Trish! I don't drink 30 minutes before or 60 minutes after my main meals. That being said, I do drink with my small snacks. Otherwise I wouldn't get my water in! I figured that I'm doing the best by not drinking near my main meal times! Deanna

I sip with my meals and snacks. Before surgery I would drink several glasses of water or tea with my meal, now I just sip small amounts throughout the meal. Darlene

I'm a sipper you're a sipper wouldn't ya like to be a sipper too? Sorry, I just couldn't resist a bit of jingle singing. I am fine when i'm in the house but when we go out to dinner and i'm talking and eating i need to sip or a choke on my food. I'm going to tell you that now it's ounces as opposed to huge copious cup fulls that it was before surgery! Be well, ANDI
