ok.. I asked everyone in cali about doctor kent the other day cause everyone says such great things about him... I got an appointment with him tommorrow at 130 pm.. wow.. that was fast.. I went to my derm doctor today to discuss all my skin issues and the psoriasis and she said there is no way my tummy tuck would not be classified as a medical necessity. Can you belive it.. she wrote a hugh letter to my pcp outlining why I need ps to get rid of the skin and said if I needed anything else from her to let her know.. My arthristisis doc aready wrote that i needed ps for my skin problems and now I have an appointment with doctor kent to get all the information I need to take to my pcp. I have an appointment with her on Tuesday for my physical and to start the ball rolling on ps.. she promised she would be able to get my tt covered and to get "all my ducks in a row" before I see her on tuesday.. sounds like I am getting them right where they need to be. I will be going to see her with a journal of every outbreak and pics... as well as info from doctor kent about what i need to have done...I am so excited...

I am really pleased for you ~ but jealous as hell!!!! I can make myself feel a bit better by thinking that you are our guinea pig and we can see how it all works out for you and how amazing you look rather than seething with the yellow fellow sitting on our shoulders. Now seeing as you may be the first we expect before & after pikkies....

Sounds like you are doing everything right!!!"Ducks in a row". Everything I have read on the main boards & profiles for ps states to have that documentation in order & lots of pics & you have 2 DR's backing you that it is medically necessary!!! Even if they try to yank your chain with a denial-I think with all your "Ducks in a row" you will get approved!! Fight the fight-You pay your premiums its medically necessary-Make them pay for it!! You are paving the way for the rest of us!!!I was not going to have any ps but now I have a hernia & will have to have it repaired & the Dr said that my ins will pay for a tt as a secondary procedure to the hernia repair if I want it!!! So I will want details!! Good Luck!!! ~Missy~

I just love how u all see me as the guinea pig here..lol.. well I hope they are right and I wont get a denial. From what I understand there are certain things they dont argue with.. that would be a hernia which shows the stress of the skin causing issues and with documented skin issues. I know it sounds great that I am getting a tummy tuck but the psoriasis isnt fun trust me. It is very painful. I spend a lot of time trying to keep these outbreaks from getting full blown.. At this time My lower back is really bad. It itches all the time and I have ruined many shirts from bleeding on them. So while I know it is great that I will probably get ps for the excess skin. I wish more than anything I didnt have to deal with the pain I am in each and every day from this crap on me. The one solace I have is that since I have lost so much weight.. much of it has gone away. other than my back and it trying to get on the excess skin I am pretty clear.. I do love that.. I even had this crap in my mouth and ears.. thats how bad it was. my derm doc gave me a new lotion yesterday that he said is much better than what I have been using. She thinks it will clear up the area on my back.. That would make me so happy. I am totally happy with my current treatment of remecade for my arthritsis. It has cleared my skin so much I am in heaven. If I get my back clear and the few spots on my head clear.. I will be for the first time free of this crap running my life since I was diagnosised with it 3 years ago. With all that said guys.. it is so cool to have a documented reason to get this skin off.. after I get my ps done its just a matter of leveling off my weight loss, continuing my treatments and I think i will be free from psoriasis for good.. like my wls doc said.. many times it goes away after you loose the weight and get stable.. i hope that is true.. and with my treatment.. i truely feel that will happen..

Hey Carla Cant' rememebr if I've told you but I've got psoriasis too. At teh momemt I've got it on my hands arms legs and feet, but it' horrid wherever you get it. Do the docs think removing the skin affected will stop it from spreading? I hoep ti works out for you so you can be free of it. You certainly have my sympathy (along side my jealousy )

yes i remember u told me.. what the doc says is that psoriasis is opportunistic and because we have the excess skin on our bodies and it gets irratated and can develop an outbreak it needs to be removed.. the excess skin can get really dry, pinch, and irritated.. my pcp doesnt want to chance it getting on those areas and than we will have to clear it up to.. its preventive and maintaince i guess u could say.

I know you must be excited. What is the possible date? Sometime soon? My surgeon's office "strongly suggests" waiting a year AFTER we reach goal to pursue plastices. But I guess with you skin problems and arthritis its a bit different. I hope all goes well with insurance, that would be AWESOME!!! Mandy
