Percentages

I know I have asked this before but... does anyone know what percentage of our diets should consist of protein, fats and carbs. I don't have a nutritionist but I was thinking something like 20% fat, 40%carbs, 40% protein. When breaking these #'s down to grams it's like 27 grams of fat, 120 grams of carbs and 120 grams of protein per day. Does this sound right? I hate to say it but the fat grams seem low and the protein seems a bit high? What do you guys think? My gym is doing a challenge to reduce the amounts of carbs and fats we eat and I want to participate in the contest but need to know what percentages to use...I obviously can't use the standard percentages.

My dietician gave me ranges to aim for. This is what she said for me, based on my size and my activity level. I currently weigh 179 with 23% body fat and I go to the gym 5 days a week. Anyway, here's what she recommended for me: Calories: 1200-1600 Protein: 50-143 grams Fat: 28-63 grams Carbohydrates: 144-265 grams Fiber: 10-35 grams Deanna

Good question Can I add one? How many calories does the average woman need to maintain weight? I used to aim for 1000 a day when on a diet, but have no idea for maintenence. Of course how active you are comes into it right? OK so for someone how isnt' too active, how many do you think? I guess I'm asking because then I will know that if that is the amount of calories or more I'm eating then I won't loose weight and will get stuck on a plateu (sp?) and need to do something about it rather than just moaning!!

Its is different sepending on how close you are to goal. My nut has me on at least 65gm of protien (95%) of my food should be protein and almost 0 carbs..very low fat.. whast carbs I get is from beans / veggys no bread or pasta... everyone does agree that protein should be the first thing you eat and then IF you have room for anything else you can have the veggys next... blah blah blah

yes ma'am same rules apply for my nutritionist and surgeon as well! I'm not big on carbs especially pasta, it leaves me feeling nasty, but i can get in some rice with my sushi, not much but enough where i feel wonderful! Truth of the matter i don't eat su****hat often but when i do i really savor it...new since surgery because it freaked me out prior! Hugs, ANDI
