We took our 6 yr old daughter Millie to the pediatrician today. He thinks she probably does have epilepsy and developmental delays, so she is going to have an EEG and then possibly an MRI and also will have an assessment by an Educational Psychologist. I've been so stressed out by this, but now we know more what we are dealing with I feel like a weight has been lifted. Hopefully I can get back to eating normally now. I hate that I still turn to food when I'm stressed. That is something I need to work on. Thanks to everyone for your support recently on this It has really been appreciated Ruth

Ruth, you are such a terrific Mom! I'm glad you are getting Millie checked out. I know you must be really stressed out ... she's your baby! But you are doing such a good thing for her! My daughter, Abby, is 6 also. She is very introverted and shy and every day we have issues because she thinks no one likes her. The other kids tease her and she just stresses about it so much. She is very different from all the other little girls so I worry about her fitting in. Let us know how Millie's testing goes! You are a good Mommy! Deanna

My prayers are with you as a parent but my money's on Millie! Two out of three of my kids were labeled with developmental delays and both turned out to be the brightest kids so realize that developmentally delayed means the brain is working elsewhere and can't be working everywhere at the same time. I turn to food as well honey. Hugs, aNDI

Hi Ruth - Its good that you've taken her to the doctor - the sooner these things are identified, the sooner interventions can happen and help her. It must be so frightening to go through this. I've actually done neuropsychological testing in the past in people with epilepsy; if there's anything I can do to help in terms of understanding the testing process let me know. Developmental delays may not necessarily be permanent. If they can identify what's going on with her early, they may be able to help her a lot. Take care, Heather

I think that the drug of choice for that is depakote. my daughter was on depakote for years and it is really a good drug, but it does tend to make them fluffier.
