Run the Race
Some of you have signed up to run marathons (crazy people!!! ). Anyway, it has made me think about what it takes to run a race and stay the course and get to the finish line.
At the start, you are pumped up, filled with adrenalin and full of energy. However, there always comes a point when your body wants to give up. It is screaming at you perhaps in pain, but mostly just at tiredness, etc. You don't have the excitment you had at the beginning of the race, and you don't have the thrill of knowing you are doing a great thing. All that is reality is the hard slog of it all.
But one thing I know, even though I don't yet run is that athletes stick this bit through. They stay the course and hang in there till this hard part passes, and then it is all worth it in the end.
Doesn't this remind you of our journey. Not all of us have run our race and have gone slower than the others, sometimes walking but we have ALL gone a significant distance towards our goals. It has gotton tough for us all at some point, but we need to hang in there. One of the things that keeps an athlete going is the support from the crowd. We are all here to keep each other going.
For those of us struggling at the moment, stick with it, hang in there, and we will all get to the end eventually. Sometimes we just have to put one foot in front of the other and take one step at a time and remember that this too will pass.
Hope my musings make sense!!!
Oh Ruth, you couldn't have said the more perfect thing today! I truly needed that! Thank you!
It seems like I struggle with making wise food choices everyday. I know this will be a constant daily battle for me because I just have serious issues with food! But what you said makes such good sense. I'm going to add it to my journal!
Thank you for starting my day off with a positive note!!!

You're just too awesome Ruth! What a wonderful way to put this journey into perspective! I know I needed to hear it, because lately it's been really tough! I totally feel stuck, but you reminded me that eventually this too will pass and since I'm still going at it everyday, I'll get to my goal someday... Sending you big hugs of thanks!
Hugs,
Bobbie
