Well.. I am still in a funk but wanted to try and start the day on a good note. Did my exercise today and I am back at work. How was everyones weekend? Did you get Monday off for a holiday? I seem to have gained another pound but I am sure it's from begining to work out. Muscle weighs more than fat as they say plus u retain fluid when you work out. I am sure this will pass as my body gets use to working out more. I always have had to be careful when I work out because I tend to build as appose to tone. Well I hope you all had a great weekend.. Now lets liven this board up.. You'll have been quit for far to long now.... Let me hear from you.

I agree it has been really quiet lately...although i don't help cause I mostly lurk... Yes, yesterday was a holiday so that meant a day off. Yippee! Had to recover from the disappointing football weekend. Not to mention all the "football finger foods"...tell my why do Dorito's go down so easily? Hmmm.. As far as gaining a pound...yes, it's your body adjusting to the exercise...i bet in a few days you will lose that and more. Your lucky that you build muscle so easily...I have been working out with a personal trainer 3x per week for 4 months and although I know I am stronger and leaner my percentage of muscle weight has stayed the same... I am losing "fat" pounds which is good but I need to tone! Have a good day. Trish

Hello Hello, Sorry to hear you are still in the funk. Hopefully this week will be better for you. I am sure the exercise will help. I went to the gym this morning. I take a Body Pump class that I just LOVE, it is a strength training class. I have sure been able to see the difference since I started taking this class. I was off yesterday too, I went to the gym and took my daughter with me (2yrs), she went to the child watch service, I worked out and then took her swimming. It was a nice day. Yes yes I have also been lurking on this board and a few others... wondering what's up w/ everybody too. He He guess I am guilty too. I check this board just about every day and I think most of you do too so let's liven it up. OK I will post something today that I have been thinking about posting but hoping someone else would. Yikes. Kristen

I've never done a body pump class. Actually just started exercising... I know been 8 months.. but at least I started.. will take me a while to get up to a level I can compete with a real exercise class. Would love to see more ppl posting on the boards each day.. so put your thoughts down.. we all love a chance to hear about how everyone is doing and get insite about where we all are in this journey.

Hi there Carla! Good job with exercising! I tend to bulk up quickly too ... I was doing strength training 3 times per week and I've backed off to 2 times per week. I definately don't want to look too muscular! I went to another Spin class last night and there was a different instructor and she really kicked my butt. Not to mention the bike I got didn't have a range in tension ... it was either off or totally hard tension! So my legs are tired today! I'm working on potty training my 2-year old son ... joy! It's really not so much fun! But it's gotta be done ... he's doing fairly well. So that is how I've been spending my last few days! I feel like I can't go anywhere! Deanna

Wow.. thats a pretty tough undertaking. Most kids today, especially boys dont learn until a much later date. I believe that its better to do it earlier than later but with new diapers and such.. parents get lazy and dont teach their children until they are older. In the old days when you had to wash them.. parents were much more motivated to get them off the diapers as soon as they could..lol. Yeah.. I am kind of watching the exercising as well.. at one time I looked like a muscle woman and ppl were trying to get me to compete. dont know why I build so easily but its the last thing I wanna do right now. Thats kind of why I put off working out for so long to begin with. OMG.. I tried to do a Billy Banks video on saturday.. u know the Tai Bo guy.. he killed me.. I MEAN KILLED ME. I couldnt lift my arms for a full day and had to take some tylenol to relax enough to sleep that night.. Not sure if I'm ready for him yet..lol.. Has anyone every tried Tai Bo.. make sure u have an ambulance outside to cart u off when you're done..lol.. Have fun with the toilet training.. I know u will

Hi everyone - I'm newer to this particular board and mainly lurk more than I post. I was doing good before christmas break (i work as a secretary at a school) with going to the gym 3-5 times a week. Since break happened, I didn't go as much and having a hard time getting back up and going. I told myself last night that I was going to start today at 5:30 am and I couldn't get myself up out of bed. Tomorrow's class is the kick boxing which I don't care for. Thursday hubby will be gone, so I have to help with son's paper route, so that morning is out. guess i'll start on Friday. I've GOT to get motivated to go back because I was feeling better when I did go, and the scale had started to move again. On a happier note...I had a checkup with the surgeon this past Friday. He says I only have about 25 more to loose, which would put me at 130......my original goal was 120. Sooo....I'll adjust to his goal, and anything under 130 is icing on the cake! I'd REALLY like to hit 130 by my 1 year anniversary. Possible?? I dunno, but gotta try.

I confess too- I have been lurking. I have been getting better about getting to the gym but not about posting here. Shame on me. I am feeling better and better at the gym. I have gotten to the point of not hating it anymore- I don't really like it either- but I don't hate it. I have a meeting to go to tonight after work which means no gym and I feel a little sad. THis is good because I usually detest the gym. I can ride the bike for 20 minutes on 5 tension no problem. I usually do 12 minutes on the eliptical machine too. I am down 185 lbs since I started this trek- down 112 since the surgery. I feel good. I don't have much hair, but my hairdresser says she sees new ones growing. I feel like I can eat more now which scares me. I liked the control of two bites and then full. Now I have to stop myself before I feel sick. Seems like the full feeling comes a little slower but the sick feeling will come on fast. I am learning each day what to do. How about you guys?

Hi Carla We spent the weekend at Sea world, my husband had a speech on Monday so my son and I tagged along and played! I get bulky as well and have to watch the weights... but I really need to exercise more! (I hate it)...LOL feel good after but it takes forever to get me to do it! I am determined to get into a class at the gym and get back with my trainer...I still have 3 paid for sessions since November... (Bad I know)

I've got some good news and some bad news for you....first congratulations on working out i'm so proud of you, keep up the good work, the bad news is that muscle and fat weigh the same..one pound of muscle equals one pound of fat. The difference is that muscle is denser and therefore the more muscle you have and the less fat in your body the denser and leaner you'll appear. Hugs, ANDI
