Hello eveyone, I had run in with the foamies this morning, and it was not pleasant! I don't want to assume that everyone has experienced this so I will explain. For me it is excessive burping that is deep and loud. Sometimes the burping session includes a trip to the bathroom to vomit bubbly foam, not a lot but it is really bubbly, so no wonder I am burping by the looks of what is in my little stomach. Usually it is soon after I eat something that I shouldn't be eating, but this morning this wasn't the case. I went to bed about 11:00 and woke up at 5am with a strong urge to sit up and burp. I tried to lay back down and I got this sharp abdominal pain so I got up and spent the next 30 min. burping and vomited foam once. For dinner at 7pm I had a small serving of lasagna that had lots of beef in it. I also had several Captain Morgan & Diet Cokes. Now.... there have been plenty of nights where I have drank many, many, more drinks so I am not sure if it was the drinks. I think it was the beef actually but why such a delay???? I didn't experience anything right after I ate, so I am puzzled why there was such a delayed reaction. Has anyone else experienced anything similiar? Suggestions??? Thanks, Kristen Lap RNY 5/8/06

Goodness, I'd forgotton all about the foamies - amazing how quickly I had! Sorry I don't have any suggestions on why they hit you now. I used to get them in the morning when I needed to eat, before breakfast, but didn't get any pain with them. Hope someone has a solution for you - maybe post on the main board too?

I have them every so often but mainly after I've either eatten too fast or that I haven't chewed enough and swallowed something to large. I just had an episode this past Tuesday afternoon that lasted 6 hours. Spiting excess saliva leading to a few upchucks of a clear jelly goup. then Finally what I ate 6 hours later. All the while not being able to drink as when I did take just a sip during the 6 hours it'd just get worst. We don't ever forget this but we get in a hurry or excited and it's not every time but when we least expect it. Hope your feeling better now though as I am. Slept great that night as I was exhausted from the incident. So slow down and watch yourself when eating. Woew do you have Carbs such as the Pasta in your lasagna. Pasta/carbs now give me the Dumps the next day for three consecative visits within two hours. And any alcohol makes me dump too. But these episodes just make me stick to the program better, Mike

our pouch can be a picky thing... I dump or get the foams from the same thing I could eat the day before... The cokes would do it to me, with the pasta and capt morgan... I would have gotten sick much sooner...LOL any way hope you are feeling better

any time I get the burpies, I do that deed and burp like a guy on a three day drunk if I get a SERIOUS case of the foamies. I bend over, the pressure on my pouch helps and I just give a SERIOUS burp and I can usually empty my tummy. sometimes it takes three or four 'productive' belches to get whatever it is UP. last night it was three pieces of spaghetti that were not chewed up. they hit the 'out' spout and that was the trigger for me. it did not come out nearly as foamie as if it would have if I had left it in longer to ferment, but it was on it's way to being a foamie. once they were up and out, I was totally fine and had a little more food. more carefully chewed this time.

Well you sure made some interesting choices on your food/beverages last night! Perhaps the combo of the carbs/cola/alcohol was not user friendly to you. I hope you are feeling better today. Be Well, ANDI

I have had the "foamies" many times. like others have mentioned, I usually have difficulty with this when I am eating too fast or not chewing my food until it is mush. My doc says the "dog foam" comes from your body recognizing that something is caught and it produces extra saliva to help wa**** through. It is this extra saliva/ juices then that build up and cause the pain. I usually get this when I am eating protein/meat and I feel it immediately. Maybe the delay that you experienced was from the combination of food/drinks? Here's to no more dog foam!!
