When you get sick with a cold ...

Hi everyone! I was just curious how you all react when you get sick with a cold? I've been sick with a cold a couple times since surgery and it is awful! I have a cold right now and it won't go away. It seems like when I get a cold now, that is lasts forever and no medicine I take seems to touch it. I've been taking Sudafed and it doesn't even help in the least. So, do you all have this same problem? Does it seem to take you longer to recooperate? Is it because we don't absorb things like we used to and that is why the medicine doesn't work like it used to? Ugh! Deanna

O my gosh yes so glad to here I'm not the only one. Got the flu around thanksgiving then that went away to get a terrible head cold that turned to strept throat and got some anti biotics went away for about 3 days now I've got a stupid cold again. I got some zicam last night I've heard it works pretty good and some dayquil I can't afford to miss any more work. Apperantly my body did'nt get the memo that I really don't want to have a cold anymore ha ha

I haven't been as sick after surgery - maybe it's all the vitamins?? I did get a NASTY cold right when I moved though - it was not pretty. My Dr. still hasn't given me the greenlight on pills bigger then a pencil eraser- so I still take liquids for the most part - I just took tylenol extra strength liquid and it really helped!!! Who knew - I usually always used whatever cold medicine seemed appropriate but the tylenol really helped!

Hi Deanna! I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry you're feeling crummy and I hope you feel better real soon! I'm not too much help with your questions, I have had one cold since surgery, but luckily it really didn't last any longer than normal for me, I did sleep a lot though. Hugs, Bobbie

Well, I have been have problems with reoccuring bacterial infections and my Dr. told me that for the 1st year after surgery "we" are very susceptible to illness because our immune systems have been lowered and it takes our bodies time to get re-adjusted. You might want to try taking more vitiman c and maybe even that airbourne stuff (I am going to get some myself - just thought about it) Also you might want to try Tylenol cold products . . they come in liquid form and have been helpful for me. I hope you feel better soon. Phenom

Deanna, I'm glad you posted this, because it helped get my butt back to the doctor! I've been fighting a respiratory infection of sorts since just before Thanksgiving. So yesterday was my third trip to the doctor for antibiotics, decongestants, and breathing therapy. Again, thank you for the post!! Diane

knocking on wood, I have not gotten sick yet. I have had a bunch of migraine headaches, but nothing that has been noteworthy, I have had more issues with my molars (in the middle of getting two crowns. currently I am sucking down two Tylenol's a day and that has been a switch for me, when I was LARGE, it would take 4 minimum to kick the pain.
