Well I got my bike on chirstmas day and have been doing a little bit of riding for the past few days meaning around the block a couple times each day. Yesterday I went for the big ride. We went out to Santa Ana bike trails and I road 25 miles. There were some major hills.. I mean some really big ones and I made it up them on the bike (not walking).. I felt like Rocky when I got to the top. What a workout. Anyway.. Remember the bad knee... I was really worried I wouldnt be able to walk taking on such a big task... MY KNEE IS FINE... not even a small pain in it. WOW.... all these years I couldnt cycle and I did it... and I dont hurt at all. Guess I am in better shape than I thought I was in. Already planning to go again on Sunday... It was so nice riding and seeing the wash with all the water in it from the recent rain. We found a really nice park as well so we will start there this time so my kids can play inbetween riding. Its gonna be a wonderful day and I cant wait to go.

Carla, that is so exciting! I'm so proud of you ... wow, 25 miles? Did you ever think you had it in you?! That is amazing! It's wonderful that your knee didn't bother you either. Look at all the possiblities ahead of you! What brand of bike did you get? I'm assuming it's a mountain bike? I'm really wanting to buy myself a bike. I'm really enjoying my Spin classes so I think I'm ready to get a "real" bike and attempt some good mountain biking! Congratulations! Deanna

Yes... its a mountain bike. I just like the style of them better plus they are more versitale. Just in case I want to ride in some dirt. It's made by Specialized and the model is a "Hardrock Comp" with disc brakes and high end gears.. cost about $600.00. Of course I added a gel seat for comfort and meter to measure distance and speed. I missed riding. We went down a river area and it was so nice. I got to see the ducks trying to swim upstream.. that was so funny cause the water was pretty swift after the rain we had. I saw some nice waterfalls and just hearing the water run by as I was riding was such a relaxing feeling. Once you get out of the room (spin cycling) and can actually see the things you are riding two..it makes all the difference in the world.. I started out riding much the same way u are doing now many years ago. I will never give up my riding again. I remember how special it was to me all those years ago and how much more it means to me now after not having it in my life for all these years.
