Christmas Candy & food
Hi Guys
Well, you've all had a trial run for Christmas during Thanksgiving.
So what did you learn? what were the pitfalls to avoid? Any wisdom to pass on?
I'm on a basics day today, as I've realised this week coming up to Christmas I'm not drinking enough, moving enough or eating the right things (ie not enough protein)..........
At least the scales haven't gone up, but I would really like to see them go down a smidgen tomorrow on Friday Weigh-In
I'd like this to be the first christmas where I don't put on a ton of weight
Hello,
Well I found out that I don't dump the way some people do. I get sleepy so I really can't over do it on the sweets. But I do have a plan I know that this is a life style change that I have to be mindful of meaning if I want results everything must be in moderation. I refuse to deny myself the pleasures of the things I like i just won't over do it anymore. If I want a piece of candy I will eat a piece of candy i wil however not eat the whole bag or box at one time like I use to. Food has changed as far as its place in my life I use to live to eat I couldn't wait to plan my next meal now I eat to live. I workout at least 4 day per week this week i plan on making that 5 since Christmas is coming I want to make sure what I i do on monday dosen't show up on the scale on Tuesday but I will be in the the gym bright an early on Tuesday anyway. So my advice to you is start working out now so that you wont feel guilty about what you taste on Monday you really can't eat that much any how so I really won't hurt to much. Just enjoy the holiday season and move that body to lose.
Have a happy holiday season.

I completely agree with what Lorraine said. Everything in moderation ... and this is a lifestyle change, not a torture device! I will eat a cookie or a piece of candy. But compared to last year where I ate several dozen cookies and pieces of candy, this year will be nothing in comparison! I usually don't dump on sugar ... just a few times on random things. But I do get a spacey lightheaded feeling that I don't really care for so that does keep me from overdoing it!
As far as food ... I don't really crave anything anymore. I used to plan ahead to my next meals and really take pleasure in overeating. Now there isn't ever anything in particular that I just can't live without. I always try to eat the protein first and then if there is something else that I'd like to try a taste of, I do.
I will also be at the gym a little extra this week. I've taken one Spin class and will take another one on Saturday. I also plan on running on the treadmill ... eeks! I just want to get in a few extra miles this week to help compensate for those few bites of goodies I will indulge in on Tuesday!
I'm hoping this will be my first Christmas ever where I lose weight instead of gain!
Good luck everyone!

HELP!!!!
I just ate a cookie for the 1st time! Why did I do that? I am cooped up inside this house with 2 sick kids for 5 days now and so I think Im beginning to lose my resolve. I wish I wouldnt have eaten that cookie 'cause now I know I can.
I cant wait for the holiday to be over/kids to be well, so I can get back to exercise adn routine..............and hopefully, Dear God, no more cookies!!!!!!
Kathryn
Hi Kathryn! No need to panic you are in control of the food it's not in control of you anymore! Next time i want you to savour that cookie, really taste it and enjoy it then feel satisfied and move on! It's unrealistic to say no more cookies and know you'll never break that resolve. I hope the kids are feeling better and I wish you a healthy, happy and blessed holiday. ANDI
Thank you Andi!
That was really sweet of you! I guess I realized something after reading others posts - I am an emotional eater still!!! Big TIme! I was using food to cope - to feel better about being stuck indoors with sick kids and no real outlet. I'll have to do something about this! Not sure what yet, but everyones given me something to think about!
Happy Holidays!
Kathryn
I agree with the others.
I eat candy. I eat chocolate. I eat cookies. I eat bread. I eat pasta. You name it, I eat it. I eat everything almost that I ate before surgery. I weigh just over 150 and I'm in a size 6. I'm still losing. The Key? I work out religiously 6 days a week and I don't OVER EAT. I eat a piece of candy. A smiddgen of a cookie. A small side of pasta. Don't deprive yourself. This isn't a DIET it's a LIFE CHANGE!
