upper endo question

I have always had trouble with food moving through and getting stuck. It often times will take me 45 min to an hour to eat a small meal. I've been putting off getting it fixed or looked at because I had pulmonary embolisms after surgery and did NOT want to have anything more done with potential complications. Well, I finally bit the bullet, I had an upper endo with dilatation today. When he got in there, I didn't need dilated but I had a couple of sutures that were there (?eoded) and were causing irritation. From the way he was talking, this is not all that uncommon. I guess they use permanent sutures instead of the dissolving kind. I'm hoping that taking those two sutures out and the carafate medication for a couple of weeks will help my issues. Has anyone heard of this before?

Oo, that doesn't sound very nice you poor thing. No I haven't heard of this. Have you discussed it with your dr? Does he feel confident it will resolve your problems? Do you have a date for the surgery? I hoep it all turns out well for you and you can get on with loosing and eating better than you have been able to.

Thanks to all. I had the procedure last Wednesday and am doing much better with eating now. It's amazing that a couple of sutures would make that much difference with eating and food getting stuck!

Glad to hear it went well. As you say - amazing that just a few stiches make such a big difference. Hopefully now, you can get back to eating without problems.
