I just found this forum today - duh! I've been posting on OH for a few months now and I just now find the one that has people who had surgery the same month as me. Yes, my blonde highlights are showing through! I wanted to introduce myself. I had Open RNY on 5/8/06. My starting weight was 240. To date, I've lost 82 lbs. I have 38 more to go to reach my goal of 120. In order for my BMI to be in the normal range, I have to weight 127 or less. I don't know if I'll ever get there, but i'm trying. I had a little bit of a rough start. Short story - I threw up/dry heaved for the first 8 weeks after surgery. Wasn't keeping food or liquids down. Ended up hospitliazed twice for dehydration. Finally doc went back in with a scope to see what was going on. Basically he had to stretch the opening to the pouch - normally after surgery, our pouches hold 15-20 cc and mind only held 5cc. So.....I was trying to eat and drink what I was told, but mine wouldn't hold that much so I was literally making myself sick. Finally, after he stretched it out a bit, I started keeping food and liquid down, with the help of nexium and zolfran for nausea. Since then, I think I've been pretty normal......have been loosing fairly consisentely until the past two months. I've been on a major stall...not loosing anthing at all. I haven't exercised much, and I knew I needed to change that. Just forcing myself to start is the hard part. I also tracked my food on fitday.com thinking maybe that I was eating too much of the wrong stuff. After tracking it for 2 weeks, I called the NUT and they told me I wasn't eating enough. NEVER in my life have I been told to eat MORE. I wanted to beat my head against the wall! I did start the exercising last week, and the scale has moved 4 lbs, so that's good. It helps keep the incentive to continue. The eating more tho is a different story. I'm only able to eat about 3-4 ounces at a time (my capacity will always be smaller he said, since it started out smaller, so that's a good thing i guess). NUT says I should be eating 4-6 ounces. I feel like I eat all the time now, and it's a struggle to eat more. So for now, I'm just concentrating on the exercise and more water (I was only getting about half what I shoud be. Anyway, that's the story on me! I plan on hanging out on this forum a bit more

Welcome Nicole! Glad you found us! This board has been a lifesaver for me. It really helps to be able to communicate with people at approximately the same stage as us. I'm sorry your journey started off rocky, but I'm glad to hear you're having such great success. WELCOME again! Mandy

congratulations on all the progress you have made so far. I am still only 4 oz of runny stuff and 1.2 oz of chew stuff. my dr was actually surprized that i was eating that much. he thought that I was over eating by consuming 3 oz at a meal instead of 2 at my 6 mo appointment. so YMMV for me, the water is my pitfall. I just can not do it. no matter how I disguise it!
