Has your real hunger returned? I find this so amazing, I am never hungry. I swear I would have this surgery every month if it meant my hunger would be gone. Karen

I dont get hungry at all either, but my head hunger is nagging at me more lately. I am probably eating more than I used and I dont feel the icky feeling like I have eaten to much anymore. I hated that. there was a time when I would be miserable after I ate even after only a couple bites.. I still dont do starches, bread or carb like things cause I want to make sure I continue to loose but I really want them sometimes. To apease this need I will eat 5 pretzels which isnt to bad.. I say 5 because I dont want to do the grab a handful and the handfuls get bigger.. so I actually count them out when I have that want a crunchy something. As far as eating I have a set time I try and eat so I dont forget. If I get really busy and miss meals I will actually get light headed. Have you ever had that happen. Thats a bit scary. I hope I never get that hungry feeling again. I like being in control of my eating habits and know that if it does return, its gonna gonna be tougher.. but I know I will win the fight and learn how to manage it as well... good luck

Carla, I also can eat more now without that awful discomfort. In fact, unless I eat too fast, I don't even get a full feeling. So, I'm continuing to measure my food and use small plates. I've also done very vew starches, including bread. I'm getting most of my carbs from vegetables and a little bit of fruit - - I wonder if that's why I don't really feel hunger? Everybody says that if eat carbs you crave them but I always thought of that as "head hunger." I really hope my hunger stays gone. Never feeling hungry has made me feel FREE. I love it. Karen

Just head hunger...and my mind tricks my body at "lunchtime" & "dinnertime" into believeing it needs to eat...when I actually think about it I am not hungry it's just the routine.

Routine for me, too. I'm so used to coming home from work and eating dinner - sometimes when I have an appointment or have to shop after work I realize that hey, it's 8 p.m. and I haven't eaten and I'm NOT HUNGRY! YAY!!! Karen

The "head hunger" is about to drive me CRAZY!!!!! But actual hunger is not an issue for me. I did slide into eating a few carbs. NOT carb crazy but a few and its showing because i just want more carbs. I'm sticking to the protein first at meals but i've started eating a few triscuits with my cheese (my afternoon snack). Mandy

Hi Mandy - - I'm trying to just keep the "bad" carbs out of my life because they are my true downfall. I know if I start eating them, I won't quit..... Karen

i don't understand the lack of hunger that everyone talks about. i get hungry everyday. the only time i make myself eat when i don't really FEEL hungry, but i know that my body has to eat, is at breakfast. how can our bodies not be hungry. we eat very few needed calories. i feel hungry most days at around 12-1 (lunch) and i am always hungry for dinner by about 6 -7. i rarely feel hungry for a snack, but occasionally i do. sometimes, i feel completely ravenous and empty. the difference for me is now, after i eat a small, reasonable, healthy meal, i feel satisfied. i rarely want anything sweet and when i really do (usually around time to start my period) i eat a small amount and i feel satisfied. call me crazy, but i'm glad i still feel hunger. i think i would be sad if i didn't feel one of my bodies most natural responses. deb 229/154/135/129 start/today/dr's goal/my goal 17 pounds to NORMAL bmi!!

I was told its because our little tummys are so close to the hunger mechanisim that we just dont get that hunger feeling. I also hear, that for many, it does come back. Not feeling hungry has helped me because I tended to eat to fast when I was hungry. It gives me the chance to slow my eating down.. learn to taste my food and enjoy the time I am eating. Head hunger makes me want to scarf down everything in my path.. thats the enemy and if I had the two together like before I would be much harder for me to learn to work this tool I've been given. As far as sweets.. no way. They dont like me at all... I actually use sf stuff to help keep me regular.. I know tmi.. but its true.. if I need to go.. i just eat some sf ice cream.. Real sugar effects me the same way with even a tiny bite and it makes me get a head rush.. so I know when its got sugar in it. I am happy about that.. I have seen ppl who have had this surgery take out food that is loaded with sugar and I know thats one of my weaknesses.. With the way it makes me feel I know I wont eat it... Knowing when your hungry is important and I'm sure that day will come for me, but I know a lot of times I think Im hungry and if I really think about it, Im not..

I think we lose our hunger pangs because the hormone that is responsible for creating them exists more in the part of the stomach that has been resected. All I can say is that I thank the Lord every day that I no longer am driven by hunger. Karen
