Hi. Thank you for the reply. I think you nailed the nail right on the head, when you said "if you are doing what you should, then your body will do what it should". I think that is the problem. I'm not doing the things I should and need to do. Like keeping portion sizes in check, and staying away from carbs. You are right when you say, that when you snack, it just makes you want to snack more. Thank you for the kind words of reassurance at not comparing myself with others. I do have a bad habit of that which I need to quit. Good luck, it sounds as if you are right on target with your weight loss and mind set. Paula

Ok Miz Paula, i'm right there with you. I'm at the 62lbs mark and i'm 6-1/2 months out. I did start out smaller though so i knew it would be tougher for me to get the weight off. I want you to remember that slow and steady wins the "race" in this case gets to weight loss goal. You don't listen to anyone else you listen to you, if you are not eating well then the question you need to ask is why, did you fight this hard and this long to fail your tool? The exercising more is hard to do is an excuse and stop using it, go for a walk at lunch, buy an exercise tape, i do donkey kicks or dance while i make dinner, if you want to get in the exercise you will. Put on your favorite music while you are cleaning the house and let the beat make you boogie down. I take my kids on walks after dinner if the weather is nice, anything to get the heart pumping. You can do this one pound at a time, don't listen to the others that the weight is just dropping off of it might not come off like that for you, this is an individual thing. Do you go to the nutritionist? Be Well, ANDI

Andi, thanks for the reply. You know?, you are very right about getting the exercise in. I know it can be done. Before surgery I walked 2 miles a day on my treadmill. That was because my surgeon had that rule, that if you don't walk 2 miles a day starting months before surgery, he would not perform the surgery on you. As for a nutritionist, no! I don't even know how to go about going to one. I had a great surgeon, but little did I know, that a couple of months after my surgery, he would retire and close his doors. I think that I was kind of left to figure most if not all of this out for myself. I have an appointment with another surgeon that is taking the patients of my original surgeon, on Dec. 20. I am hoping he will steer me in the right direction. Thank you again. Paula

you can do a few things, first, you can wait until 12/20 then ask the new guy to recommend a nutritionist for you or you can call your local hospital, find out if they take your insurance and make an appointment with their nutritionist. You want one with bariatric surgery experience. I am what we'd call a "slow" loser, my metabolism is fine my eating is right on target i just lose slowly, i accept that, it is what it is! I want you to remember how special you are, what a good person you are and let the weight loss do as it must. You drink those liquids and eat those proteins! Change happens best when it happens one step at a time. What one step are you going to do this week to bring about the weight loss you want? I'm going to up my liquid intake, i've fallen by the wayside with the drinking and I need to start up again. Let's make that a topic shall we? Hugs, ANDI

Thank you. Tomorrow I will call my local hospital. That way I can get a nutritionist that is local. My new surgeon is over an hour drive. You do not even know how good I felt when I read that line of how special and good a person I am. That was a very thoughtful thing to say. Well, my step is to try to get more exercise in. As a matter of fact, I just walked on my treadmill, it really did feel good! Good luck and keep up your positive and friendly attitude. Paula

Hi. Today is the first day I haven't had a protein shake to start the day. I am going to try to do this for awhile, without the shakes, and see what happens. I'm going to try to eat more of the dense protein. I'm cooking chicken breast for breakfast as I write this. We'll see. I will just use a shake if I know I haven't gotten much protein in for the day. Thank you for the response. Good luck. Not that it sounds as though you need it! lol! Paula

When I was discouraged about my amt of weightloss before someone on OH asked me...When have you ever lost ## of pounds in that amount of time before? Although it may not be as fast you wanted: When have you lost 62 pounds in 6 months before? How long has it been since you weighed 213? Keep your head up, Mandy

Thank you Mandy. I am really happy with the weight that I have already lost. I have to tell you, if I were the only one that had had this surgery and didn't know anyone else that had, I would'nt give my weight loss but a super happy thought. What I am trying to say is, it is all about comparing my lost to others. I know its bad. It just happens that my boss had her RNY on Sept. 25. about four months after mine. To this day we have lost the same amount. And of course she rubs that in my face. Although she has been in the emergency room more then once. They are saying she has ulcers do to her smoking cigarettes. Anyways, I do feel lucky in the fact that I am very healthy and feeling really good to boot. Good luck to us. I know everything is going to be just fine. Thanks, Paula
