Hello Everyone!
I had my surgery May 24th, 2006. I read the post on this forum often but rarely ever post.
I am down 90lbs. even.
I was wondering how much everyone can eat at one sitting? Like in ounces or cups.
Just curious....I can eat a good amount and it worries me that I may stretch my pouch out.
Thank you in advance for your replies!
Jinn
Jinn,
The amount of food depends on what it is...I don't measure but it's about 1/2 cup if it is something moist (casserole or something like that), 1 cup if it is soupish...or just a couple of oz's if it is something like chicken or turkey alone. I also notice that is depends on the day...somedays I can eat 1/2 a serving of lasagna (1/2 cup or so) then other days just a few bites.
Hi Jinn, I am down 80 lbs 6 1/2 months out!! Hitting the 6 month mark was like a switch being turned on all of a sudden I felt like I could eat sooo much more!!I don't really measure but could tell I was eating more in volume!!But now that I am aware of it I have noticed it depends on what it is mushing moist foods like soups & casseroles I can eat (guessing here) 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup!! More dense foods like chicken & steak about 3-4 ozs. I have heard that when you eyeball your measurements on meats the palm of your hand or the size of deck of cards is about 4 ozs. Hope that helps!! You are not alone!!~Missy~
Well I can eat loads if I dont' measure - more than a cup. makes me feel rough afterwards, but I don't get that feeling till I've stopped eating. So I have to measure all my food and limit it to 1 cup absolute maximum - I try with 1/2 cup first which is usually enough. Mindyou, I've had the snack attacks lately which means I could graze all day if I let myself.
This is very different from what I was expecting before WLS. I thought I would be incabable of eating too much. But I do find I have the ability to stop eating and say no now much easier than before WLS. Still difficult, which is why I only put out measured portions, as if it is on my plate / bowl I still want to finish what's there - training from an early age to eat all that's on my plate!
