WHAT in the WORLD did you EAT today? TURKEY DAY
I have bought dishes to help us. we have 'special' cereal bowl dishes, (much smaller than the soup bowl), we have 1/2 cup bowls for me, those are my primary dishes, they are chef food prep bowls. and we use them for ice cream dishes as well. our 'plates' are really saucers. our juice / milk cups are really 7 oz sippy cups. I may have to actually go get some 'real glass' now for those. and our 'water cups are 20 oz monsters. it really helps to have 'designated dishes, takes up a lot of cupboard space, but it works.
I now use a cup size bowl to eat my meals from, so I can exercise portion control - max 1 cup, try to have 1/2 cup then add more if needed (which is not usually if I do it that way). When I don't use it I eat too much as I give myself too large a portion and then procede to try and eat it because it is infront of me
My daughter is learning correct portion size from me which I'm really pleased about. One of my big concerns for her was that she would pick up my bad eating ways rather than her Dad's eating ways. Thankfully, it seems to be rubbing off on her now before she is set in her (bad) ways.
Portion sizes have become crazy. I wonder how many people actually now what a single portion size really is????????
Well I slept in. Drank my first 8 oz of water and took my vitamins around 10:00. Showered and got ready for the hop of the road to my grandparents' house (about 1/4 of a mile lol). We ate around 12:00. I had a fried turkey leg ( yes its the south we fry everything. I ate most of the meat off and a bite of the cruncy stuff lol). After eating the turkey I was mostly full. I had 2 bites home-made mac n' cheese, 1 bite green beans and 3bites of pumpkin pie with a little readywhip (OMG It was heavenly).
We went back to my mom's around 3ish and played boardgames I snacked on cashews most of the afternoon BAD BAD (in reality I only had about 2 oz).
Went back to grandparents' for leftovers. I ate very very little here. So I guess I actually didn't eat enough on Thanksgivign but I was VERY satisfied and didn't feel I missed anything!!
Now to plan for the Christmas food fest!
