WHAT in the WORLD did you EAT today? TURKEY DAY
I was really good on my own,
B: cottage cheese and blueberries
L: beef jerky
and then I left the house. my house is my sanctuary, my house is my safe zone. that place out there is EVIL.
on my way to a family dinner that I knew would escalate into an issue, I stopped and got a oreo milkshake, I got three of four slurps on the straw and the nausea started. so I gave that up.
I got there and had some candied yams. no problem, I made myself a saucer, and had a tasting bite of everything.
1 Tablespoon of Turkey
1 Tablespoon of greenbean bake
1 Tablespoon of stuffing
1 Tablespoon of mashed potatoes and sausage gravy
1 Tablespoon of pumpkin pie (no crust)
3 or 5 black olives
1/2 small deviled egg
so about 10 oz of food or twice my normal amount. typical holiday orgy.
I was stuffed, but I was coping
then about 1 hour later, the corn chips and caso were calling my name, and that was were I went from marginal to over the line. bad bad bad bad reaction. I ended up leaving about 20 minutes later. I need to go down and brew some Chamomile tea to settle my tummy.
I hate holidays. I am just not to be trusted.
Ditto for me...
B- protein drink
L- turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, cheese ball, cole slaw, pumpkin pie w/whipped cream & sugarfree apple pie.
granted- only a couple of bites of each, but...dang!! roll me to the couch.
Looks like I am going to have to burn all those calories off....oh honey...where are you??? ha ha
Dar
We had a big get together with friends from the school. I guess the day was hard because of the shear amount of food on the table. Holy crap.
I grazed all day. I have never done that before and it made me feel a bit sick. But, I made the right food choices. I had my protein bar for breakfast, cheese and nuts throughout the day during football. Then for dinner I had a little mashed potatoes a little green bean casserole and a good bit of turkey. I had more nuts and cheese after dinner. I made sure to get my fluids in, but I felt STUFFED all day, but I just kept eating.
It was a head trip of a day. I couldn't have stuffing or pie....that's practically what thanksgiving MEANS to me. At least it's over.
Oh my mouth is watering reading all your posts of thanksgiving food
Now, I posted yesterday that I was going to be more accountable and make better choices - so did that work - NO. Sigh.. Here goes - no flaming
B - boiled egg
S - Chocolate cookie
L - 2 lite laughing cow cheese wedges
S - 100 calorie pack cheetos
D - 3/4 cup fish pie
S - 1oz hagan das ice-cream
Oh OK, now I've written it down it doesn't look soooo bad. Wish I hadn't had the snacks tho. They really are my downfall. I just don't seem capable of choosing healthy snacks
now bless her heart, my daughter tried so hard to replicate her momma's turkey day spreads of old

the had quite the feast. I just can not appreciate it anymore and really find it hard to encourage her, when I know how little we really need to be healthy.
I think you hit the nail on the head....the sheer gluttony of the day kind of gagged me. My mother in law, who's diabetic, goes i'll have the stuffing as my carbs and proceeded to heap her plate high with stuffing, i tried to casually mention that it looked like a whole lot more then one serving and she got insulted. Perhaps that's our biggest problem as americans, we have no idea what a serving really looks like. Hugs, ANDI
oh man, a single serving, I was looking at something about that recently.

please everyone take a look... I may have to start a new thread on this, I think THIS is were we as Post Op's are going to be heading, to really educate ourselves and our families in a sensitive way what a portion really is!
