Have sizes changed??
Ok, I am a 5' 2" woman that weighs 160 pounds. I am considered moderately overweight. Most of my size 12's are now too baggy on me. I can wear most size 10's although some are too tight. (i don't like tight clothes!)
When I married my husband 24 years ago, I was a size 10-12. I weighed about 135-140 pounds.
Have sizes gotten bigger??? They must have! I know we Americans have gotten larger as a whole, so has the clothing industry increased sizes to make us feel like we are smaller, so we'll buy more clothes? Am I really a size 10 at 160 pounds, 5' 2"??? I mean, I know I have a big head, that takes up some of the weight, but... it's just hard for me to believe I'm a "true" size 10. I wish I would have kept some of my "old" size 10's from high school/college! Maybe I need to go to a vintage shop.
Just venting,
Deb
I agree with you! I wore a size 12/13/14's when I got married 37 years ago and I am 5'4 and I weighed around 130-140. I haven't shrunk any in height and I now am at 206 and can get into some 14's?? I love it,but it seems too good to be true! Then I have some 16's that I can't even button or zip! Its crazy!
I think that some clothes run smaller. At Walmart, if you look at their sizing charts it is smaller that a store like Old Navy. I also think it has something to do with your body type. I am 5'0 and 163 pounds, but I just fit into a size 12 (jeans from Walmart). I also carry all of my weight in my lower midsection.
But to be perfectly honest, if there was a pair of pants that said they were a 6/8, I would buy them immediately!!!

Hey there Deb -
I've found huge variability between different pants, different stores, and different brands. I can wear size 10 jeans from JcPenney and some other size 10 pants from Goodwill, but I have other pants from JcPenney that are size 14s and they are tight! Go figure! I would have thought that the jeans would have been the hardest to fit into.
The last time I was near this weight (15 years ago) I could wear a size 10, but it depended on the clothes.
Take care,
Heather
