The honeymoon is over....in more ways than one!!

I've missed you guys SO much!!! We'll the wedding and honeymoon are over, and I'm playing catch up at work, exercise and everything else!! Can I ask how everyone is doing with their tolerance of sweets?? I can't believe I didn't gain any weight over the past few weeks, since I haven't exercised and while I was in Carmel, CA on our honeymoon I discovered my tolerance for sweets is way more than I'd like it to be, lol. I discovered I can much on little mini sugar cookies, have a few spoonfulls of baked chocolate chip cookie dessert, and drink port wine with NO ill effects!! YIKES!! Now I'm afraid my carb cravings are creeping back on me. I find myself snacking more than I did before I left for the honeymoon, and last night I went to Wendy's and ate 2/3 of a single cheeseburger, a couple fries, and about 3 spoonfulls of a chocolate frosty without batting an eyelash. I know at this stage our tolerance is getting better about eating more "normal" foods, and it's better not to deprive yourself, just eat small portions while still getting in your protein and liquids, but I'm starting to get scared that if I'm not careful I'll start back on old, bad habits.

Hey Alisa - Congrats on the wedding/honeymoon!! That is awesome that you didn't gain!! I remember my honeymoon was a very glutanous (sp?) week and I gained 5 lbs (pre-op)!!!! I feel the same way about eating. I could have definetely eaten what you had at Wendy's without batting an eye. I think everyone gets to this point eventually. (This is all My Opinion). My hubby had WLS 4 years ago and eats very "normal" now. Nothing like his old days - but no one would ever suspect he was a post-op from his eating habits. Yeah - he is pry really breaking a lot of "rules" but he is mainting his weight for 2 years now. Sure - we are still in our weight LOSS period- so we should be sticking to the rules and trying to keep our losses going - but don't beat yourself up over a modest meal!! Welcome back to the board!

Welcome back and Congrats!! I too find I am able to tolerate more (I had a choclate cookie with orange frosting yesterday..I ate the whole thing over a 20 minute and didn't get sick at all). I'm also finding that my carb cravings are coming back full force too! But I'm sure we'll make it through. I know I NEVER want to and I NEVER will go back to the way I was before surgery. Mandy

Hey Alisa It's good to have you back. We missed you! So when are we going to see some pictures and hear all about it?? Come on, we want details......... So you ate a few things not on the 'rules' - you were getting married and on your honeymoon for goodness sake! You'll get back to basics once you are back into normal life Ruth

Welcome Back & Congratulations!!! Can't wait til you post the pics!! Don't beat yourself up about the sweets & carbs!!!It was your wedding & honeymoon after all!!!Eventually we are suppost to be able to eat things we want & I say special occasions are just for that!!!The important thing is you didn't gain-You recognize your weakness & now have the tool to work with that!!!Try not to worry too much about slipping back to old habits-(easier said than done) I over ate yesterday, didn't get sick but felt miserable all day!!!Moral of the story is "the pouch will keep us inline when it really counts." Get back to routine & you will be fine!!! ((((HUGS)))) ~Missy~

(((((((((Alisa))))))))))))))) welcome back and congratulations. Do not beat yourself up about your food choices, life goes on and you will make better choices from here on out. I think getting married and going on your honeymoon makes those cookies and desserts totally non-caloric (but what the hell do i know?) Have a wonderful life together and make sure you celebrate and enjoy each other often. Hugs, ANDO

You got married and celebrated....imagine what it would have looked like BEFORE WLS. So, don't be too hard on yourself. At least you realize some areas needing improvement and now that it's over you can get down to business again!! Congrats! Rachael

Hi Alisa! You're not alone! I've been eating Halloween candy for about 2 weeks straight now. I get a bit of a sugar coma afterwards, but no dumping. So, I hear ya! Cookies go down well too. So, it's time to kick ourselves in the rear and get back with the program. I'm trying to remind myself, that this is nothing like the "old days" when I could have eaten 1/2 the bag of candy or the whole package of cookies. But, it is worrisome. So, it's good that we can recognize it, and as was said earlier, get "back to basics". That's my motto for November, before the holidays are in full force. We can do it!!! ~kelle

Welcome Back!!!! Yes - I know the feeling --- I also can eat sugar with no ill effects (what's this baked choc chip cookie dessert????? - sounds great!!! - we are always looking for new recipes) I work at Cookies n Cream - A Dessert Shoppe so I have it in front of me ALL the time and do real good BUT - once in a while those cookies look SO good - especially the Oatmeal Raisin and the Choc No Bakes. I do OK with all the ice cream, pies, brownies, cheesecake etc but those darn cookies!!!! I know I should not ever eat one but I keep thinking - before I would have ate 3 or 4! And I am getting back in the snacking mode - usually healthy snacks but still!!! WE WILL NOT GO BACK TO BEFORE!!!! Love, Hugs and Prayers, Darlene
