Mayer Plastic Surgery Thread

Hi Folks, Let's talk plastics. So I am down 98 lbs and the excess skin is considerable. I look at my body in the mirror and I imagine what I might look like without batwings, titties, tummy and bum that have gone south, and let's not even mention what has happened to my thighs. I never imagined that I would seriously consider plastic surgery but now it is not even a question. I simply can't imagine the next fourty to fifty years carrying around all this excess skin. I have been doing research on various procedures, doctors and cost. I would love to share information. There is the plastics forum, I know, but I think it could be helpful for we Mayers to help each other as we continue our journey. One of the questions I have is about the pros and cons of having ps out of country and who are the best doctors. I have read that the cost savings is considerable. Be Well, Christine

we are considering it. but not for two years. I am shocked at how well my face has shrunk and does not need any repairs. my batwings are something I can live with, what is a surprize for me, is that the skin on my inner thighs and all the way down to my knees are drooping like so much jello. gross. my belly is so sad, but still has some fat in it, so I have a ways to go until that is just skin and not fat and skin. on the other hand, learning to live with protruding bones on my shoulders and hips has been a very strange feeling. I would like some more fluff back up there, to me it just feels gross all boney and whatnot.

A month ago my skin looked way worse than it does now. So I'm hoping with time things will continue to improve. I do KNOW I will want something done to my breasts. and I'll probably opt for a TT as well. BUT time will tell.

I have considered some of this. I know that my insurance will pay for abdomnioplasty if I can prove the need. But, I am losing very slowy in my stomach area....which probably means I won't need that particular surgery!!! But, my breasts are in dire need. And the batwings are killing me.

Oh my gosh, I could just cry over my skin issues! I am not a vain person but this is causing me physical pain as well ... my chest has always been way bigger than normal. I started in a size 48H bra and I'm now in a size 38H bra. I cannot find anything to fit me right because my cup size isn't changing! I've been having MAJOR issues with pain in my upper back and shoulders from this. I have knots so bad that last night I was in tears from the pain. Needless to say, I have an appointment with my primary care doctor to at least get it put on record. I don't know if my insurance will ever approve me for a reduction or not! I also have issues with my stomach skin which is almost as bad as my chest. I have the bat wings, which I can tolerate. My thigh skin is unsightly but I can tolerate it. What I cannot tolerate is my chest! I don't know what I will do! I wish I could win the lottery or something! Deanna

you may have to go in and get fitted 'properly' for a bra. I know that I am avoiding it as well, because while I am seeing some changes, more in the cup than in the band, I am holding out for december to get a proper fitting. you know those ones with the bra specialist at a $40 a pop bra (I hate those places) I was a 44 GG before, now I am about a 40D, it is hard to say, some days it is a DD and some days it is a D. but my back, is killing me, not from the 'cups' but from the shift in my gravity center, so some heavier duty proper support straps are on my list of 'needs' right now I am using playtex 18 hour with the comfort straps, and they are better, and cheaper $20 each

My husband told me to go get fitted too and I am just tooooooo mortified! What if I measure way bigger than they even carry in sizes? I would be so embarrassed!!! Ha, ha! Deanna

Yes Yes Yes...I want it all. Now all I've got to do is apply to those extreme makeover tv shows to get it done . I heard that you should wait at least a year after you have reached goal for your body to 'settle' before having any PS. Now question is, can we wait that long? I think the look of a body with saggy skin is worse than a fat body. I don't want to have gone through all this to have a worse body image in the end. Having gone abroad for WLS I wouldn't recommend going abroad for PS. You get no follow up for any problems and basically are 'on your own'. If you can, try to get it done near you.
