After School Program! HELP PLEASE!!!

I've applied for (pretty sure I'll get it) teaching the after-school program at my school. It pays well and I really need the extra cash!!!!! So here's where the help comes in. I eat lunch at 10:30 (3rd graders eat so early). The afterschool program runs from 3:30 to 5:00. I currently (try) have a "snack" around 1:30 during my plan time. BUT I just don't think that will cut it now. With me not leaving school until 5, if I go straight home there is no way I can have dinner cooked before 6:30. So my dilemma is trying to figure out what to do about eating. Do I cut out the 1:30 snack (really my lunch b/c I only drink milk around 7:30 then eat "lunch" around 10:30) and switch it to 3:00 before the ASP starts?? AND do you have any suggestions for what to have. I do have one of the small refrigerators in my room so I can take some things. This is gonna make for a long day on Mon- Thurs because I'm gonna switch my gym to the a.m. before work so I won't be going after the afterschool program. Thanks for letting me vent that and thanks for any tips!!! Mandy

I think 1:30pm for your snack sounds ok. Try it for a week. It might work out just fine.

I eat every 5 hours, so if I get breakfast (a real breakfast, not just a drink that is out of the pouch in 30 minutes) at 8 am, I am good until 1 pm, then I have a couple ounces of precooked meat, also a good solid takes 5 hours to digest lunch, then I am good until 6. and then I have my dinner. I precook my meals, so say monday night, I cook up a 6 oz steak, I cut it into three 2 oz portions, I eat one, and store two in the fridge for the two meals on the run. the next night, I cook up a 6 oz pork chop, and I eat one, and store two for two meals on the run, so on and so forth, so that I have quick lunches and fast dinners.

Hey Mandy!!!Not sure about your eating plan!!Every Doc is different!!!Mine says 6 small meals a day!!!This is working well for me I am getting my protein but have always had a hard time with the fluids!!! I think the 1:30 snack is ok!!!but maybe try to pre-plan your dinners!!!I don't usually get home until 5:30-6:00 so I try alot of things in the crock pot you can leave it to cook all day if you trust your crock pot or I will cook it the night before & get up to check on it then all I have to do is heat it up that afternoon!!!& add veggies!!! Sorry I couldn't be of more help!! ~Missy~ Ps Congrats on the After School Program!!!

Yep, you are definitely going to have to be organised with your meals so they are ready to go when you need them. Otherwise, if it was me, I'd fall back into old habits of grabbign the first thing availbale when I'm hungry, which invariably is carbs, take out or something else equally not good for us. Know your weak points and work around them. You could always have protein snacks in your refridgerater - cheese (cottage/soft), meat, etc. for when you need them.

what about some crock pot meals for the days you are working the after school program? I find that anything made in the crock pot is just perfecct for me to eat, very soft and comforting. Be Well, ANDI
