"That time" of the month question.....
Hi Everyone!
I have a question to throw out to the ladies on the board. I used to be very regular and actually had my cycle the day I had surgery (May 11th). I also had a cycle in June, but since then, nothing. I get the other symptoms (crampy, cranky, bloated etc) but nothing. When I went to my PCP she said if I didn't get anything on my own within the next couple of weeks, they'd put me on pills to force my cycle. I've had to take the pills before because I was told over 7 years ago (when I weighed over 375) that I had Polycystic Ovary Syndrome....which caused me to not have a cycle until I took the pills. The cysts weren't large enough to operate or anything and I've had normal pap results, the dr just kept an eye on them. I have not had any trouble and the dr said the cysts could go away on their own if I lost some weight (which I thought maybe they did when I started getting my cycle on a reg basis and since surgery, I'm down to 266). Has anyone else had any trouble like this? Also, does anyone know if those (forget what they are) pills will be absorbed by my body ok? Or is this just a result of having major surgery and eventually my cycle will return to normal? I mean I have a dr's appointment for Nov 16, so I'll be asking her all these questions as well, but thought I'd ask around OH and see if anyone else has had a similar problem.
Thanks!!
Patti
my cycles have always been irregular. My pms is really bad. today i'm cramping so horribly in my lower abdomen and BACK (oh the back pain is sooo bad). I had thought about talking to my surgeon and also my gynecologist about getting on some sort of birth control to regulate myself. But for today it is UUUUGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

Pre surgery I had been very regular - to the day, time and minute of day, however post surgery it has been running 10 - 12 days late every month. Then last month, to the day again - this month, I am 2 days late so far and no signs. Go figure. The gyno says my body just went through major changes and I am down 118 pounds so far so he'd put me on pills if it don't regulate after 6 months but I am not sure if I want to go on birth control pills. I may give it another month or so, but you have to do what you have to do. Hope this helps. Debbie
Hi Patti -
I've had the opposite problem. Before surgery, my periods were very irregular. Since surgery, they've been regular to the day, and heavier, and last for 7 days. I also used to not have cramps, but now I do.
I hope the doctor is able to help you - how frustrating!
Congrats on the weight loss!
