Struggling with Water?!?
Not the taste of it. I enjoy drinking it now. Its just getting enough in. With waiting an hour after each time I eat, I just don't seem to have time PLUS with me teaching its been alot harder than I thought. I thought "Heck, I'll just have a bottle with me and sip all day." I get so busy I just plain forget. I've only been getting HONESTLY about 25-30 oz of water a day plus about 16 oz unsweet decaf tea with one packet splenda. So not nearly enough fluid going in my body.
Anyone else having a hard time with fluids/liquids/water (it seems all surgeons/nuts label it differently)???
Mandy
Mandy, I too struggle with the fluids!!!I think yesterday I may have gotten 41oz that was a good day!!!I am so busy getting all my protein in from food(which is what my nut told me to do after my 3 mth appt.)that I can't get the fluids in. Now I can tell you my surgeon/nut tells me nothing to drink 30 min prior to or after eating. An hour would make it even harder!!!I know if I go back to having My shake once a day it helps me get more protein(30gm)then I can concentrate less on eating & more on drinking but my nut said shakes have too much calories!!So whats a girl to do. I will do the shake routine a couple of days a week just so I can get more fluids in cause I am so afraid of getting dehydrated.I go for my 6 month check up in 2 wks I have to have my labs next week I so hope everything comes back ok. Just wanted you to know You are not alone. ~Missy~
Hey Missy -
Just had to comment on your nut saying the shakes are too many cals. Not that you should go against your nuts suggestions...but I think the shakes are still my best return on investment for calories consumed compared to protein content. Most are like 120-130 cals and pack about 20 gr of protein...doesn't seem like a bad calorie choice to me. And if it helps you concentrate on liquids instead of eating your protein all day then one shake a day sounds like a good plan to me. My nut basically says shakes for life. I got away from them all together for months....mostly because I was burnt out on them. But now I am doing TWO a day again and getting in over 100 gr of protein and my calories have actually come down. I say whatever works ffor you is best for you!
That's one thing I don't have problems with ... I get in over 64 ounces every day. I found that I can take "mini" gulps of about two swigs of water at a time and have no problems with it. It helps it go down faster that way! I drink a Propel every day too and that is my "treat" water. There's only a couple flavors I like but I really like them so it is some sort of a treat for me! Other than that, I drink the rest in regular water.
Have you tried taking more than a small sip at a time?

Hey Mandy...
I definetely struggle to get my water in when I am busy - so I can imagine with teaching it is really difficult. At work I do the bottled water trick. I drink a bottle between each meal/snack and aim for 4 a day (80oz) but usually log in 3 (60oz). Once I get home I barely drink anything...I am just too busy - I'm lucky if I get in another 10 oz!!
I also don't drink a drop of straigh****er. I always use the crystal light (well - the walmart brand anyway) shake ups in my bottle.
I also don't wait between meals. My nut/surgeon says 30 minutes but I don't even think I do that. Especially not before. I usually barely choke down the last sip and then eat. I wait about 15 min after before the next bottle. I don't drink at all DURING my meals...but I definetely break the before/after rule!!!
You aren't alone girlfriend. It's quite a juggling/scheduling act getting in all our protein and fluids!!!
your not alone..
I dont get enoughwater either
I do try but am not usually sucessful... Its has caused me to get UTI's from being Dehydrated.....My nut stated 30 min before and after for not drinking and limit the shakes... I don't like the shakes so that's ok with me. I don't adhere to the 30 min rule. I have enough trouble getting enough fluids in as it is
Mandy,
I get about the same amount as you in each day. I forget, It doesn't taste good....I don't know why....sigh
I usually get thirsty when I get home and then its time to eat and then I have to wait after I eat. sigh.
I did find some cans of things that we can have that help me out a bit. One is Tropicana SugarFree Orangeaide. Tastes superb and drinks like soda to me but without the carbination. I can take it everywhere just like soda.

I am so so so bad about fluids, I am more ashamed of that than of all the carbs I am sucking down.
today I ordered a small drink at wendys and I did get it down, about 20 oz, but sadly, that is it for the day.
I will fall back on desparate measures and have a cup of tea before bed, but I am sure that I have not lost any weight in 10 days because of dehydration.
it seems the better I do on one area, like vitamins or protein, the worse I do on another area like fluids and vegetables.
