Tired and perplexed.
Hey all, hope the weekend is going well for everyone. I am still sturggling with a painful belly button. Nothing else...not one other speck of incision or anything hurts on me but the darn belly button incision. The new pain medicine dose eases the pain but doesn't take it all the way and the fact that I have "extra skin" on what I call my "nether belly" is unfortunate. The weight of the skin is pulling on the incision and it BURNS. I don't have a fever and nothing is seeping so we aren't going to the ER or anything, I am just frustrated. My belly button doesn't even look like a belly button and it's still like swollen shut.
I can't find any pants to wear that don't irritate the area. I have been stretch panting it for days and they all sit right on it. Sigh. I guess i am just whining. I don't feel run down and I want to get my life back to normal, but the pain is intense. Plus, I am a tad vain and would LIKE TO HAVE a belly button. Not to mention that there is a formal dinner and dance for the seminary's homecoming celebration this Tuesday. I have 4 different dresses in different sizes just in case, but I don't want to be miserable. It's supposed to be one of the best fun nights of the year.
I am so wishing they would have taken the GB out during the gastric bypass. sigh. I am trying to stay positive but the evenings take their toll on me. By the end of the day I just wi**** would all go away.
Sorry, just needed to vent.
Rachael
Rachael - Sorry you are feeling so bad! Hope it passes soon!! By Tueday for sure!! At least with a dress - you will not have anything pressing on it. Don't you wish you could just run around in a Kimona or house dress or something like everyone used to.
After my RNY - my belly button incision started hurting and seeping so I had to call. They called in a RX as it was infected. That was the only incision that ever hurt. I know I wished they had taken my GB out too at the same time because I hear of SO many people that end up having trouble. SO far so good for me - No trouble (Knock on wood and Praise the Lord!!!)
Vent any time you need to - that is why we are all here!!
Love, Hugs and Pryaers,
Darlene
Hi Rachael
you poor thing. Be kind to yourself and don't expect too much of yourself. Your body has been through two major operations in the last 5 months - that's huge for it to cope with. I agree it's a shame that they didnt' do them together. Oh well...no use thinking if only. It doesnt' change anything.
Maybe God has done it this way for a reason? Listen to what He is saying, look at what's happening around you. I feel He wants to say someting to you.
Praying that you feel better soon and enjoy Tuesday. And whichever dress you wear, it'll look much better than one you would have worn before WLS. You'll be beautiful because you've got God's glory shining out of your face
Ruth,
I know that God has given me the surgeries in this way for a reason and it's a good one. It's just hard to remember that when I am in pain. If they had used the time to take out my gallbladder during surgery, like they had planned, they would have never done a liver biopsy and discovered my steatohepatitis. Thanks for reminding me to look at God's plan. God is telling me that I am young and can handle these surgeries with little problems and that He is proud of me for taking my life back.
I was able to sleep in the bed for the first time again last night and I think that helped me get some better rest.
Thanks
Rachael
Aww...Rachael...I'm sorry you are feeling so down. Recovery is so hard. And I know what you mean about it getting to you at night...you battle it all day and you're just exhausted from it by the end of the day. You know you can come here to whine/vent anytime!!!!
i feel bad - I don't even have any suggestions...but I just wanted to come in and give you a virtual (HUG)...they don't have a hug smiley...hmm...you'll have to settle for a kiss ....hope that isn't too forward of me....
I know this doesn't help any but I just wanted to let you know that even now almost a month later my belly button area will hurt every now and again. If I bend suddenly or that hanging skins pulls it down. But that pain is VERY rare. Like the others said 2 surgeries for us in 5 months is ALOT on our bodies.
My prayers are with you!
Mandy
Hi Rachael
Vent anytime.....
Sorry you're still hurting, You feel better in no time. I think we heal slower, at least I know I do. I fell down the stairs 3 months ago and still have some of the deep bruising left. The doctor said it's because of the trauma our body is going through from the surgery and lack of food ....
Anyway.... You will look beautiful at your homecoming ... Hope you start to feel better soon
