Hey Guys, I need some suggestions about food. I am going camping next weekend with my 6 year old son's Cub Scout troop. We are going to be camping for 2 nights and 2 days. I am sure that the food we will cook will not be WLS friendly (I am only 5 months post-op), so I need some suggestions on what kind of food that I could bring with me. I am pretty sure there is not going to be any electrical cooling systems, so refridgerated stuff is out. Any suggestions would be wonderful!!! Thanks, Danice

Thanks for the idea. I am trying to decide if I should order some WLS chicken soup I tried. It has 15 grams of protein. I am still on the fence though!!

I have not tried the chicken soup, but did get most of the puddings and snacks as well as the sloppy Joe ( all very good) the little chocolate crisps are good too. I did not like the beef stew.

You should try the chicken soup. I think it was called Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup. I got a sample at the Walk From Obesity a couple of weeks ago. Iam not a beef stew person, the smell makes me so nauseated (plus I cannot eat red meat or por****il I am atleast 6 months out). I am going to try the pudding this week. I think I read that GNC had some!! Thank you so much for helping me.

What about those foil packet dinners? we used to have them in girl scouts and I bet you could put whatever in them. Ground beef, potatoes, carrots whatever is good for you and your nutrition requirements. Those can go right over the fire thogh. Rachael

I used to love those in Girl Scouts too. The downside is, I cannot eat red meat or pork yet. I thought about chicken, but not having a fridge is concerning to me. I am afraid with ice and ice packs that I cannot keep the chicken cold enough. The foil dinners are a good idea, maybe the boys could even help make them.

Rachel's foil packs are a great idea. I make them at home on the grill - even post op. I like a chicken breast in mine but ground beef/turkey would be good too. Just add carrots, potato, onion - yumm! Suggest turkey hotdogs if they are planning on roasting those over the fire. Just eat one with no bun. Hmm..this is a tricky one...I look forward to the responses!!!

Protein foods: Little cans or packages of tuna or chicken, some of them come with light mayo packets. Gerber meat sticks Jerky Protein bars Protein chips Protein drinks Small cans of chili Peanuts Sunflower seeds Peanut butter Milk in those "juice box" type packages Non-protein foods: 100 Calorie Packs Fruit Crackers Bread Cereal Lots of bottled water! Hmmm, any other suggestions?
