Back from the gallbladder surgery
Hey all. Just an update. I got to come home about dinner time today. Things went well and my surgeon was EXCELLENT (same as gastric bypass) I have been having pain the last three weeks on the opposite side as the gallbladder and it was like a burning by the pouch. I mentioned it to him in case he could take a peek while in there to see if anything might be wrong. He said, "I'll do you one better! We'll do an endoscopy while your under to make sure there are no ulcerations or staple line problems" And, he said he would look to make sure all the intestines were ok and not twisted (as I have been having awful constipation). It was so awesome not to have to come back to have these things looked at.
After the surgery he said that my "new system" looks beautiful. However, in addition to the very large gallstone that we have been seeing on the ultrasounds for months, he said I had a ton of tiny ones and he thinks one got into a duct and caused all sorts of abdominal pain. At least it wasn't a pouch problem!!!!
Overall, a good day. I am glad it is overwith and that it's out. I even went for a walk tonight....slow but a walk. Now I just sit back and wait for the swelling to go down!

yes Missy, I felt very reassured by my surgeon yesterday. I figured that I would tell him about the recent pain since I was seeing him, but I had no expectations about what he could or would do about it the morning of surgery. I was very pleased. I felt that he did everything he could while he was in there to reassure me for a good year!
