I guess I need some support....I think I should be down more by now. I am seeing signs of eating more volume. In the beginning, I felt satisfied after eating small meals, but now I am beginning to "want" something to eat. I am walking 1hr. 3-4 times week. My low-cal snacks are "fruit popsickles" by Dreyers, yoghurt, Kozy Shack rice pudding. I had an adjustment July 28...and lost about 9lbs since that time, am I being too hard on myself or not hard enough?

First off how much do you think you would have lost w/o the lapband in your own dieting attempts? Anytime I get discourage thats the first thing I ask myself. Secondly your weightloss rate will be slower b/c of the band rather than bypass. How tall are you? How much excess weight doyou have to lose? All of these things are factors. You may need another "fill". What does your surgeon/nutritionist say about your weightloss? Don't be too hard on yourself. Congrats on the weight you've lost thus far. mandy

Hi Mandy, I laughed out loud when I read your reply. You hit the nail on the head. I never seem to lose more than 10lbs...then gain it back...15 is unusual, but 24 lbs is fabulous. O.k., guess I need to take a look at the big picture. I am 5' 3" and need to lose 60lbs. I started at around 190 and am at 166-167lbs. I know we all want that weight to be gone overnight. So, I am down more than 1/3 of my desired weight loss. Yippee. thanks for your reminders! Mary Lee Heald Kingwood, Tx.

Mary your doing better than average. Usually for Lap-Bands it's only 2 pounds average loss per month just starting out and your average is 6 pounds. Keep up yur good deeds. Your doing wonderfully. You can't compare yourself to RNYs. We lose a lot faster.

Yeh, I want to add my 'well done' on your loss. Don't worry about the numbers (easier said than done I know) as Mandy said - when have you lost this much in this time before? AND you know it's a life change so those lbs are NOT coming back this time either. Even if it's 1lb a month coming off - IT'S STILL GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION (can you tell I'm talking to myself as well??? You've already made good life changes - walking and eating right. Keep going on this road and you'll get to where you want to go. I am hitting that 'wanting' to eat right now too. It's our heads messing with our bodies - old habits trying to creep in. Stick with what you KNOW your body is telling you rather than what your head is trying to tell you and you'll be fine. Glad you felt able to ask for support from us - anytime, that's what we're here for Ruth

Ditto to what everyone else said. I know it's hard, but we all need to try to remember how far we've come and try not to focus solely on where we still want to go. Mandy was right, it's so important to think about how much weight would (not) have come off without the surgery! Keep up the good work. Jami
