What have you eaten today? 10/3
2 cups of coffee with IDS protein scoop in each (42g protein)
B - Power Crunch protein bar (15g protein)
L - Vegatable beef soup (last two nite's pot roast has now turned into soup)
Ate about 1/2, ended up ing what I did get down!! Must have been a little piece of roast!!
S - New Whey Liquid Protein (25g protein)
D - Steamed cabbage
Maybe even some mashed potatoes (I'm tired of ing!!)
Oh no Gail! I was wondering how that roast treated you ... doesn't sound good!
I ate chicken last night and it actually went down! There is a first time for everything, huh?!
Can you eat ground beef? I can ... for some reason the ground beef will go down if I chew it really well. But ground turkey won't stay down very well. Isn't that weird? I wonder what the difference is?!
I hope you quit soon!
Deanna
Me too!!!
Yes, I can handle ground beef (well chewed). I haven't tried ground turkey.
I haven't had much luck with chicken, so I'm so glad to hear you were successful!!
I'm so envious when I read the other eating posts, I would so like to eat some meat, but I guess it will happen eventually!!
Tonite, I'm eating something very soft while I watch "Dancing with the Stars!"
Yea, Megan I know what you're talking about.
I asked my surgeon's nurse at my 4 month appt. if she thought I had a stricture and both she and the surgeon said as long as I can drink fluids I'm OK.
The throwing up only happens when I try to eat meat!!
I'm able to handle deli/lunchmeat, tuna, crab cakes, bacon and ground beef, but that's it so far.
A friend of mine who is 2 years post-op (same surgeon) told me it was the same for her. She said she mostly stuck with soups until she was 6 months out, so at least I'm doing better than her! I'm going to stick it out until 6 months and see what's going on then!! I'm hoping 6 months is the LUCKY number!!
Thanks for your concern, I appreciate it!!
Deanna...even though I hate that we're both going through this, you're right, it's reassuring to know there is someone else out there!!
My surgeon explained it this way...he said one or both of two things--either my stoma may have healed slightly smaller than normal, but not to worry because it will stretch...eventually or second, there are some people who just have a difficult time tolerating certain foods, esp. eggs and meats after WLS and again, eventually that too will pass. What's really weird, before WLS, I loved meat and did not have any difficulty whatsoever, so of course now there's nothing I would like better than to have a couple of bites of some kind of meat!!
B: South Beach high protein cereal bar and a cup of "no sugar added" Swiss Miss hot cocoa ... I dumped so apparently there was too much sugar between the two of them! Ugh!
L: a small hamburger patty with cheese, no buns
S: no sugar added pudding cup and a graham cracker (bad!)
D: I'm making spaghetti for the family so I might just eat some of that with not as many noodles in it
Deanna
B- 1 cup of coffee and scrambled egg with 1/2 slice of carb counting toast
L- tofu and lean ground beef ( its better than it sounds)
S- refried beans with cheese
D- small Wendy's chili ( I ate the entire thing)
S- chocolate protein powder mixed with light soy milk
I am pms-ing so I want to eat more and keep chewing ice chips so I wont!!!
