Saggy skin? (long....)

I know what you mean about the saggy skin. But, you have to remember we are a work in progress right now and the work is not even close to being done yet. I joined the YMCA...in my area of Northern NY....and i mean Northern NY...30 min from Canada....we have a READY TO BE FIT program. It's great....it give you access to a personal trainer who is right there to assist you during your workouts. Giving you pointers on how you are doing and new exercises and things as your body gets used to exercising so that you arent doing the same thing over and over everyday. I love it and hated...and i mean hated the thought of going to the gym. But, now I love it!! Hang in there...the toning doesnt happen overnite. As an example....my personal trainer was once 300 lbs...she didnt have the surgery but she knows how hard it is to get in shape. She has absolutely no flab on her at all...so its possible to get rid of it. I know we are all different....but I guess with lots of work and determination it can be done. She is the perfect example. Or try thinking...practice makes perfect. It gets frustrating sometimes but dont get down on yourself....remember we had this surgery done to become LOSERS BY BEING WINNERS, AND YOU ARE A WINNER AT BEING A LOSER. Kel

I too have sagging skin. I posted about this about a month back and I honestly think its better now than it was then. My upper arms, my upper thighs and my big belly roll. I was watching Plastic Surgery Before and After and one thing one of the surgeon's said (which fit me, I'm not sure if you've always been overweight or if you were thin then gained) was that people who lose lots of weight have excess skin and think the skin is so stretched out it has a hard time finding its way back and in people who have always been overweight the skin doesn't "KNOW" how its supposed to be to find its way back. Its ALWAYS been stretched beyond its limits. So my point is....give your body time. I still have excess skin and I have come to terms that I will (hopefully one day i can have plastics) but I would much rather have my saggy skin than have it stretched beyond limits and puffed back up again. Don't get me wrong its depressing to think that I've worked so hard and will continue do so and I'm not even sure my body will look decent enough to show off. But just remember it could be worse. I too am having issues with sagging skin but only in my arms and thighs. I've previously had a "tummy tuck/abdominoplasty" done with a weight loss (from liquid drinks) that I had 5-6 years ago so my stomach is flat now that I am losing again. I am very glad that I did have this plastic surgery (self pay). To me, it was well worth the money. Due to the massive bilateral pulmonary embolism that I developed after the RNY, I won't be having any more elective surgeries though so... I am going to deal with the saggy skin because I am now just happy to be healthy and alive. I do think that there are factors that have a part in how much your skin is able to rebound and sometimes there is just nothing else to do.

I too, have sagging skin all the places mentioned...upper inside arms, upper inside thighs, and then my boobs. I'm trying not to worrying about it too much now, because I've still got quite a bit more weight to lose and I'm hoping that some of it will go away. I'm afraid I'm going to have to live with my upper arm sag and possibly upper thigh, again, I'm just going to give it time and hope for the best and then make a decision (about plastic surgery) when I get to goal. Like Kat, I've noticed my upper legs "pooling" whenever I sit!!

Add me to the long list of us. My upper arms, stomach (which is FLAT other then the saggy skin...UGH!) and my upper thighs - you know what else? My shring boobs!! UGH. I have worked out SOOOOOOOOOO hard since surgery and I thought that because of that it would be avoided. WRONG. So frustrating. I'm going to need a body lift and boob job. That being said - I still look much better then I did 100lbs ago!! I'll post a pic in my profile for ya'll to see..... saggy skin is bad.
