Great Photos

here is my TIP OF THE DAY. have you ever noticed that your bestest online buddies all have the same background, why oh why does everyone have their photo taken by the FRONT DOOR? BACK DOOR? any door? I have often wondered about that? wanna know what is that blue thing behind me in my photo? a blue sheet. hanging up on a rod stuck between the door jam. a sheet. everyone has one, most of them are clean. it easy to do. wanna know about the light, well that is also really easy, I shut all the window blinds in the room, but one, and then I opened that up all the way, so that the light is coming from one direction, from behind the camera. I shut all the doors, pulled all the curtains, and have just one window open. then I had some white poster board left over from my son's project, and I had it on the floor, with a pillow tiping it up so that it was bouncing the light coming in the room, off the floor and onto my face, that gets rid of those baggies under my eyes (overhead light that comes from too high gives you racoon eyes). that and a not so steady hand of my 6 year old with the camera and I have a fetching picture for my profile. now it has been 4 months and it is time for everyone to create a new profile image, you all have changed, you are by no means done, but lets see some changes!

well.. technically I have heard many a pro or at least a pro-wanna-be tell me that it is not the camera, it is who is behind the camera, honestly, a NICE camera doesnt hurt, but in reality, I think that any camera will do the job. I can get as nice of results out of my 6 year olds 1.3 megapixel Kodak DC265 as I can my 6.2 Megapixel Nikon D70s. but for our purposes. any camera will do. with the exception of a webcam. those are 'questionable' hehehe

Great tips! My sis-in-law is great with a camera. The pics she takes of me are so much better than the ones I try to do by myself lol. I'll have fun playing with these tips though :D

Oh, those are REALLY good tips! By any chance were you referring to me because I'm the one posing in front of the door ... I'm sure you noticed! Ha, ha! Anyway, I have a 2 year old boy and I can just see what he'd do if I tried to put a sheet up somewhere to use as a backdrop! Oh well, maybe some day I'll have a decent looking photo that isn't in front of a door! Hee, hee! Deanna

Hey, I'm a door poser too!! Mine is the pantry door in the kitchen. Can you tell I like to be close to the food? We have a lot of mature trees surrounding our house & the kitchen is the brightest room in the house. I like those photo tips. I'll have to try them next time. Dar

Thanks for the great tips Kat. I'm going to have fun trying them out. Last time I got my pic on my posting I e-mailed it to OH. Is there a way I can do it myself? And put photos on my profile myself? BTY - I had a look at all your promotional stuff and I love it. Where abouts is Klein? Is it far from Dallas? The name rings a bell. What a good idea to do it for charity (plus you get publicity at the same time You clever girl... Ruth

yes, I did my image myself. just resized it to 100x100 and uploaded it myself. it is pretty simple. I am 3 hours south of Dallas on I45. yes, it is clever, and it is easy, I have been making quilts each year for 10 years with my church for this group. they are really great for the community.
