I just got the call that my gallbladder will have to come out. They want to do it THIS weekend. They don't want to wait until next week. I do NOT have gall stones. I have a complete blockage so that my gall bladder is not working at all. I'm a bit freaked out but I know all will be okay. Those of you who pray please keep me in your prayers.

My surgeon thought this may happen when I went to him last week b/c of the pains. He said he could do it lap. The only problem is he's not in my "network" for United Healthcare. However, his PA says that hopefully the insurance contact at their hospital can work it out so that he can do it due to a Gap?? If not she has another surgeon in mind, that she highly recommends.

Hi Mandy, I had my gallbladder removed after being taken from work in an ambulace 2 years ago. I won't lie, the gas pains afterwards are miserable (very similar to RNY). I will keep you in my prayers this weekend. May you make a speedy FAST recovery!! Hang in there honey. I wonder how much a gallbladder weighs? That's weight loss!! ;) Megan

I haven't even thought of that :D Thanks for reminding me there's a positive for everything. lol My school nurse did mention that the non-functioning gallbladder could be causing my slower weightloss. Mandy

Hi Mandy! I will keep you in my prayers! I had my gallbladder removed years ago for the exact same reason you have ... and you will feel SOOOOOOO much better after it's out! I hope it goes very well! And keep us posted! Deanna

Mandy-the gallbladder surgery is a snap. Since you're getting it done laproscopic you will have a tiny little incision about 1/2 inch long right under your breastbone. I guess because of my age, the surgeon recommended I have mine removed during my WLS. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and it sounds like the PA and hospital know how to work around your insurance.

Hi Mandy You've got my prayers to add to the others - not only for safe surgery and speedy recovery but also for peace, comfort and reassurance. Trust Megan to think of the weight loss angle - she's a hoot Ruth

Oh Mandy - I will definitely remember you in my prayers!! I hear this is common not only in WLS patients but in all people who lose a great amount of weight. I asked my surgeon if he would just take mine out at the same time but he said the % is too low to do this as part of WLS. So I guess I will just wait and see. I have never had any trouble BUT!!! Love, Hugs and Prayers, Darlene
