OK guys I'm posting this so that I am accountable for it. I have always wanted to run - even as a teenager, but have never been able to for obvious reasons. Well, I have decided that as I don't have time at the end of the day, I am going to get up early and begin to work towards running in the morning before breakfast. This is huge for me as I'm not a morning person, but it's something I really want to do. So the first challenge is to get up, then I am going to start by walking until I have enough fitness to run. I'll let you know how I'm getting on. Thanks for listening and being there as my accountability. By the way, those of you who post about exercise you have inspired me. I've kept going on all my other exercise and activity. I usually give up after a few days. Ruth

Good job Ruth! This is a GREAT goal to set for yourself! Maybe we can be jogging buddies or something?! I've been walking on the treadmill at the gym and the other day when hardly anyone was in there, I got up the nerve to turn the speed up and jog. I only made it for 3 minutes and I thought I was going to DIE! I was breathing so hard and my lungs were aching. I also came to the conclusion that I need a VERY good sports bra! Anyway, my goal is to eventually start jogging on the treadmill. I want to be one of those cute blonde girls that jog along on the treadmill like it's no big deal. Maybe someday! Great job ... keep us posted on your progress! Deanna

This is a great goal to set for yourself. When you get there, you'll cry. I did. I"m only able to jog 15-20min at a time - but the first time I did 10minutes - I literally cried (at the gym). EVerything in steps. Like you stated - getting up in th emorning should be your first step and take it from there. I"m really proud of you Ruth!! You INSPIRE me to go jog, now!!

Congrats on taking the next step. I walk inside (b/c of the heat) with Leslie Sansome 3 mi DVD. She has many many DVD's on different levels. The 3 mi is a fat burner with light weights(optional). It is fairly easy and there are mile markers throughout so if you wanted to stop at a mile you could (just make sure you cool down properly). I brought mine on amazon.com. You might want to check it out, she also has a jogging DVD as well . . . that might help to work up to running. When the weather cools down, I am going to try to run as well. I too have always wanted to run. . . . and I'm gonna to it to. Keep us posted on your progress. Let me know if you like Leslie . . . I love the DVD. Again, congrats on going to the next level Phenom

This is a great goal. I did this almost on accident one day and then I had to go to the track at school and try to make it once around. I probably would have quit sooner had I not been on a track and wanted to make it a whole way around. I was so exstatic. Made me want to go out each day and try to go a bit farther. I hope it motivates your fitness program too!!! Rachael

Great idea Ruth! I want to do that too. I need to bump up my exercise soon anyhow, especially since it is getting cooler out. Lets keep each other accountable. Ok? Dar

Thanks for all the support Well, first update - I actually got up and went out this morning!!! I ran to the end of my road - further than I thought I'd be able to go and then walked the rest of the way. I felt on top of the world...woohoooooooooo. I know I can do this
