Curious as to how many eat fruit. I haven't since surgery because of the carb count. My nutrionalist suggested that I start however. I'm a bit leary - but apples come highly recommended because of the fiber count which leaves us full. What are your thoughts? Do you eat fruit?

Hi Megan! I eat fruit but not a huge quantity of it. My Dietician said definately eat it. Usually I'll just cut up slices of apples for my kids and I'll have one slice. Or I'll take 1/4 of a banana off and eat it and then feed the rest to the kids. It's good to put a smidge of peanut butter on banana. Yum! Last night I tried a couple spoonfuls of applesauce. I've also tried a bite of peach and some grapes. I just make sure to eat my protein first and then have a couple bites of fruit. Deanna

My nutritionist says fruit is a good carb and my 96 pounds down seem to agree. I eat two or three cubes of cantaloupe a lot with a meal. Maybe a bite or two of my husband's banana with breakfast. It's not a lot, but boy does it taste good. It really tastes sweet since we don't eat a lot of sugar.

I eat grapes, watermelon, cantelope, apples, strawberries and pineapple. I have also been able to find peaches and pears and fruit ****tail with splenda at walmart. I find because the watermelon breaks down so much when you chew chew chew I am able to eat about 3/4 cup of it cubed. That is my snack and its yummy. Kel

I eat mostly Melons and strawberries... I did a photo shoot this weekend ( I am a plus sized model, lol not for long though) and one of the models mixed up some fat free cool whip with Baileys to dip the fruit that we had there in .... oh yummers, it was heaven!!! it was so good! I dipped just a couple of times, but I had the serious urge to pick up the tub and drink the dip! lol

Absolutely! I am so bummed that winter is just around the corner & I won't be able to buy the really good tasting fruit. It just seems to have more flavor when it is locally grown! I love blueberries, CANTALOUPE (my fav.), watermelon, strawberries, pineapple & plums. Grapes did not agree, maybe they needed peeled. Blackberries were delicious, but I ate too many & my tummy rumbled- could have been the seeds? I have not tried apples or bananas. They just don't sound as good to me. Dar

Fruit was not on my Dr plan until you lose 75% of excess weight. Having said that-he changed nutritionist during my journey-new nut-(whispers "eat fruit" she's working on him to change his mind.) I craved watermelon like I was 9 mths pregnant-so I ate it almost every day as a snack. Then one day just woke up & didn't want it anymore. I have had grapes in chickensald & I bought peaches at the flea market this weekend to put in my protein shake(haven't done it yet though). I am just a firm believer that fruit is good in moderation. But boy did I go crazy over the watermelon & at one support group meeting I mentioned this & other people that had just had surgery all said the same thing....(mmmm....interesting). SO, yes I eat fruit but don't tell my Dr.Shhhhh ~Missy~

Hi Megan, Yes, I eat fruit. I loved it pre-op, and I eat it sometimes (just a little bit) post op. I especially love melons (cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon), strawberries, apples, bananas, and pineapple (only in my smoothies because it's blended to make it digest easier). I have avoided grapes, because I hear they are hard to digest.
