Does tea & coffee count towards the water intake? I'm trying to up my intake and have been drinking tons of hot tea...BUT I have noticed that I have also got the snack attacks - hhmmmmm...I wonder if they are related or if I'm just going back to old habits. I fought them all weekend - eating/snacking/grazing. Ron says I'm not a cow so I don't need to graze - fair point. Anyway, I've been rambling and gotten off the point! It's early morning.....I need my ........zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I know when I was doing Weigh****chers as long as it was sugar free and decaf we could count it 1/2 as water intake. That being said my surgeon's office says NO caffeine due to its appetite stimulating affects. I can count any fluids toward my 100 oz goal but I'm supposed to get in 64 oz of water each day. I usually get in about 50 oz of water and 25 -30 oz of sf/decaf tea or crystal light, etc. So I usually get in about 75-80 oz of fluids each day. Not up to the 100 oz goal but about ummm...lol 75 oz more than I was getting in before surgery (unless you count all the sugar loaded sweet tea I drank each day....a south georgia staple). Mandy

SF and Caffiene free is my rule of thumb. if it is, it counts. however, I find that lemon water causes diuretic (dehydrating) and so it is a negative water.

This is a good question. I'm not sure of the answer - but for myself, I only coun****er, crystal lite & diet snapple as fluid intake. I also drink 2 cups of regular coffee during the day ( need to for energy) but I do not count those.

I do not count nor subtract tea & coffee. I have found coffee makes me less hungry though. Also, my skinny all her life sister lives on Starbucks coffee & my mom (who was 98 pounds all her life until she quit smoking) lives on coffee too. Dar

Hi Ruth! My nutritionist told me that tea and coffee only count towards your intake if they are decaf. Caffeine dehydrates you so you want the decaf, also no sugar. Take care Jeni
