A new "WOW" moment for me was when I took that picture yesterday. When I look in the mirror I still see "FAT MEGAN" but when I looked at the picture yesterday - I was like "WOW, I'm not THAT big anymore".
Fairly new WOW moment for me, and probably my first biggie. Last week I went to Old Navy just to see what size I might could fit into. I had a pair of jeans size 16 from three years ago, and they were starting to get a bit saggy in the rear, so I was curious as to what I could squeeze into now. Sooo off I go, and I just for curiousity's sake grabbed a 14 off the rack-well...they fit, and nicely so they had to go home with me. I was pretty impressed. A 14 isn't much to be wowing over, but for me, it's the thinnest I can remember being in oh 10 odd years or so. If I get into a size 12 by November I will be over the moon. I have a wedding reception to attend the first weekend, and a my first goal is set for that week, be down a total of 75-80 pounds from surgery and into a regular store's (like Anne Taylor, or Banana Republic's) size 14 or lower. I want to be able to buy an outfit for the occasion 'off the rack'. That will definitely be the a WOW moment for me.
If you're wearing a size 14 from Old Navy - you can fit into Banana Republic 14 as well. It's the same company. Most of my wardrobe now is from both Old NAvy and Banana Republic - mix of 12's and 14's. The pants I wore yesterday in my picture were size 12 from Banana Republic and hte pants I wore today were size 14 from Old Navy.
I went to DressBarn yesterday.
Bought a pair of "gouchos" size 22 down from 26
Bought a dressy/casual top in a 1x (down from 3x)
AND bought a dress in an 18W!!!
I tried on the 22 thinking its was what I needed and its was definately tooooo big in the BOSOM! (seems all my weight has come from hips up lol) they didn't have a 20 so I grabbed the 18W. I'm in an 18/20 top in most every store for pullovers....the dress is made to fit the top and flare away from the body. I know I can't wear 18w in everything lol but it definately came home with me. I plan to wear it sunday..I'll have to take a pic to post!
I wore a size 20 skirt last Sunday. Down from a size 26 or 28. A friend of mine gave me the skirt and when she came to church Sunday, I said do you recognize this skirt? She said, "OMG!, that is great . . . I think I am gonna cry. I was excited.
Another one is . . . About 4 years ago I saw an old friend and she asked me was I having a baby . . . wait she actually said, "When is the baby due?" I said,"I ain't pregnant, I just need to lose some weight." I was so embarassed . . . to say the least. Anyway, I saw her today - and she said, "Gurl, I see you have lost some weight, and you look good!" That was a good WOW moment.
I just have this one question though . . . . am I supposed to have these large bumps on my sides, right above my hips ?

I bought a size Medium 8/10 stretch denim from Walmart that has been hanging in my closet for weeks. I finally got them on and wore them to work yesterday. With a loose shirt you couln't tell that they were skin tight and at 45 years old , I thought I was a hot chick!! . The therapist in my support group tells me that it is very common for WLS people to see themselves in the mirror differently than others do. It takes a while for the brain to accept the actual body changes, similar to an anorexic who sees themselves as fat when they are emaciated. Strange isn't it?--Suzette
