Dumping
How often do you dump? What is dumping like for you?
I haven't dumped in a month. I was bragging just today about it. I should have shut up. As I sit here and write this - I"m miserable. I didn't eat anything out of the ordinary. I had taco meat and I guess the ground beef was way to high in fat for me. I've never thrown up from dumping but I did tonight. I can't even see straight right now. LOL DUMB MEGAN!
Oh You poor thing - I know what you are going thru. I have not dumped in probably 8-10 days. (I am almost afraid to say anything cause then I probably will. Before that it was like only once every 4-5 days. Much better than it was though! For about the first 3 months - it was ALOT! And I always threw up! I have never had cramps or diahrea just the nausea and throwing up!! Hopefully it will soon all be out of your system abd then you will feel better and can go to bed!
Love, Darlene
please don't call yourself dumb again in my presence! I dont' think you're dumb at all i think you may have made a bad choice for your body tonight but then again you could try again tomorrow and you'd be fine..... it's a crap shoot sometimes. Please don't be so hard on yourself, you should be proud and carry yourself with your head held high and your shoulders back. Be Well and consider yourself properly hugged, ANDI
I guess I'm confused??
In the information my surgeon gave me dumping occurs only when you eat something high in sugar or fat. The symptons are...lightheadedness, sweating, nausea, heart palpitations, horrible abdominal cramps and diarrhea. My doc also said you hardly ever throw up (if dumping). From what I understand when something high in sugar or fat enters your small intestines, it causes excess fluid (insulin from pancreas??) to rush to that area and it makes you feel awful as dumping occurs. Going on that info, I have never dumped.
Now as far as the throwing up...a subject that I am very very familiar with!! When I complained at my 6 weeks appt. about the awful throwing up episodes, my surgeons first question to me was can you drink fluids without a problem? My answer was yes, so he said then you don't have a stricture. I guess you can't even ge****er down if that occurs.
At times I've wondered if I'm going to have to go through the endoscope procedure because I still can not eat meats and have to eat very very very slow, if I'm attempting anything solid. Everyone else who posts their daily intake seems to be eating all kinds of meats without episode.
As far as how often I've thrown up, I feel like I'm really doing well if I only throw up once/week. This week has not been my lucky week.
Sorry for rambling on, I've just been so frustrated with my inablility to eat any meat. (exception...tiny, tiny, tiny bites of ground beef)
Hey Gail
you are not alone. I avoid like the plague any meat other than chicken. It feels like it gets stuck in my throat and is REALLY painful going down, even if I chew it for hours! Ground beef sometimes is ok and sometimes not, but as for other meat - oh no no no no......
As for dumping - my symptoms don't seem as bad as they have before, but it's occurring more often, with foods that I could tolorate fine before. It feels like my body has become more sensitive to food.
Hi Gail!
You are NOT alone as far as your inability to tolerate meats! I am the same way. I have a good week if I only throw up once also. Usually meat just won't go down or stay down for me. No matter how much I chew it, it does NOT like me! Some days are better than others but usually I have to take FOREVER to eat my meats and then I can only eat a very small amount, usually less than an ounce.

Hi Megan,
i have to agree with Gail, the way my doctor explained it to me as well is you dump when you get to much sugar. But then again every doctor has there own thoughts and ideas. As far as the stricture Gail is right about that too. I have had 4 so far.. But on another note the meat issue,my doc told me not to eat red meat for a year, they say it is very hard to digest and maybe that is why you are having problems. Just a thought. I eat a lot of chicken, turkey and pork. I have tried red meat, beef roasts etc and no matter what kind of beef I eat it all feels like it gets stuck and I am miserable for awhile. Also what about breads?? my doctor also told me not to eat bread for a year. Anyone else get this from theirs as well. I know all doctors have different formats but you would think they would be close in format.. Also I just wanted to say I consider you all my angels cause I get so much informative info from you. Thank you so much..
