Alright guys - I need support before I flip. Okay, maybe I've already flipped - but before I flip again - help me! The 11th of May was when I had my RNY. So I record my weight on the 11th of every month. Of course, you guys know me - and I weigh myself every damn day a million times a day too - but my official recording is on the 11th. Anyway, yesterday was the 11th and I got on the scale yesterday morning and I was 200. Cool beans - I'd been at a stahl forever (almost 3 weeks) on 205-207. Anyway, last night got home from work and weighed again and I was up to 204.5!~! I was like wtf? Well I drank close to 250oz of water yesterday so I chalked it up to that. Pee'd a ton last night (hahaha) and worked out really hard with my trainer at the gym. Weighed this morning - and I'm 202. I weighed 4x and it said 202 each time. How the hell am I gaining? On AUGUST 11th I weighed 217 so that means I've only lost 15lbs the ENTIRE month!!! I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I'm so frustrated. Any and all advice GREATLY welcomed! I feel like I'm barely losing - and even when I do I'm gaining back.

Not sure about advice but I was getting on to post a message about Hiding The Scales....lol too weird. Its like I'm addicted to the damn thing! We have the "balance beam" scales here at school and I weigh on those M-F between 1 and 1:45....It shows I've been losing little by litte. BUT I don't own scales at my house so I weigh at my mom's every other day...her scales have said 264 for over a week (they are digital and they have fluctuated i.e., in 4 consecutive weighs 262.8, 264, 264.4, 264). I'm beginning to wonder if her scales are worn out from me weighing myself everyday several times a day for 3 months. (I just recently cut back to every other day). How can her scale stay the same and the "school scales" drop 3.5 pounds??? I weighed 266.5 at my last Dr.s visit on 8/24 so it'll be 3 weeks Thursday. 2 1/2 pounds in 3 weeks can get a bit discouraging, especially with me still needing to lose about 120 pounds. Megan, I know what I need to do I need to up my protein and water..but you seem to be doing everything right. So I don't know what to tell you. Could you be drinking tooo much water? I've heard of peole overhydrating before. GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR thats mean growling at the damn scales for all of us who are aggrevated as hell with it!!! Mandy 332/Who knows somewhere between 264 and 261/150??

HI Megan! Now its my turn to support you!!! I am obsessed with the scale and have also been guilty of weighing several times a day. An increase in the scale, starts the day off bad. Now the scales are hidden ( I bought a sneaky one and turned it in after feeling guilty). My husband brings it to me on Mondays only from wherever he hides it. Its hard to get used to at first. In fact, I have found myself wandering the aisles of Walmart in search of a scale to try but have been too scared that someone may come down the aisle and see what I weigh . Weight ,like blood sugar, fluctuates all throughout the day. I would love to lose 15 pounds for the month and as you know I didn't. We sometimes seem to forget the great progress we made and concentrate only on what we didn't lose instead. If someone posted what you did today, you would write back something encouraging and supportive. So treat YOURSELF with the same respect as you do others because you deserve it. You look beautiful and healthy! ---Keep smiling, Suzette-----

Hang in there Megan. It sounds like we all need a "scale detox". What if we all only weighed in on our anniversary date? Wouldn't that be a fun challenge? Kind of like on Seinfeld, "are you master of your domain"? Seriously, just hang in there and try not to let the scale dictate your progress. If you're following the rules, excercising, water, protien, etc. Then it will show up. Our bodies are freaking out on us right now, so it's adjusting and hanging on to what we are forcing it to do. Even when I was just doing Weigh****chers as pre-op, I'd have have 3-4 slow weeks, then bam down 7 lbs. Keep up your hard work and it will start moving again! ~kelle

Megan, don't get discouraged - hang in there! We've come so far, and the weight loss will pick up shortly. I had started weighing a couple times a day myself, but the fluctuations were driving me crazy, so I just weigh in the mornings now, first thing after I pee and before I take a shower. Your slight weight gain may have been because of all the water you drank and/or your exercise. Muscle really does weigh more than fat, and if you're losing fat and conditioning muscle, then your weight loss will sometimes slow or even increase a little before it starts going back down, but you will continue to see inches lost even when you don't see the pounds. This is what my exercise counselor told me last week when I was down in the dumps about my plateau. I got on the scales this morning and was down to 204.5 (another pound lost from yesterday), but I'm in the middle of my period, so I'm taking the loss with a grain of salt. I'm just waiting to see what my weight does once my cycle ends. If it goes back up again I'm going to shoot that %@#^%$*&^ scale and put us both out of MY misery!!! I agree we all need to probably do a scale detox, and step back and look at how far we've come, and be assured that as long as we continue to "use the tool" we'll get to goal in no time at all! -Alisa

OK Megan! You straighten up right now!! And to listen to your "mother" here!! First of all - 250 oz of water is WAY TOO MUCH!!! And also you know that our weight will go up during the day!! And also 15 lbs in a month is terrific!!! I weighed 295 on August 17th and now I am only down to 198!! That is only 7 lbs!!! If, by some miracle, happend to be at 15 lbs by the 17th I would JUMP UP AND DOWN!!! You are not doing anything wrong. Keep up the good work!! The border crossing is very near!!!! I am awaitin' on the other side!!! Love, Ya, Darlene

15 pounds in a month is wonderful! That being said, try these tips: 1. Selective amnesia. Write down the previous weight as "official" and just ignore this weighing. 2. Always get totally "nekid", then pee, then #2 -if at all possible, then weigh yourself. 3. Now, don't be afraid to lean slightly to the left to get that extra .5 pound loss. 4. If you are feeling emotionally fragile during a weigh-in, place one finger on the countertop & press down until you achieve the desired weight on the scale. 4. Never weigh right after a shower, your wet hair will make you weigh more. 5. Ignore all those people that tell you to throw away the scale. From one fellow addict weigher to another, this is impossible & no one wants to see either of us running out to the grocery store in a fit of panic trying to squeeze ourselves body part by body part onto the vegetable weigher with a calculator. In all seriousness, you are doing great! 15 pounds in a month would be heaven for me. I did read somewhere, however, that alcohol will almost put a stop to weigh loss. So if you are at a stall, maybe try to watch that. Hugs & love your way Beautiful! Dar
