I agree Ruth. If someone were to ask me outright have you had the surgery, I wouldn't lie, I would say yes, I did, but that is something that I would rather not get around. I wouldn't lie, I just don't like volunteering the truth.

I can't keep my mouth shut. I've told most of my customers, the lady who just did my facial, the masseuse last month...I leave no one out!! It's funny to watch my men customers that I haven't told (for obvious reasons). The other day I was visiting one of those guys... we had been talking for about 15 minutes and finally he just blurts out, have you lost a bunch of weight?? I just laughed and told him I had. When I first decided to have this done last year, I thought I would be very private and close-mouthed about it, but I don't know what happened. The positive thing is, my customers are always checking on me and asking about my progress and are so very encouraging. So right now I'm loving it!!

OK EVERYONE LISTEN UP!!!!!! #1 First of all who gives a **** what anyone else thinks of you. If they criticize you then they are not your friends and you don't need to let negativity in your life. #2 Second of all could you imagine if everyone who had WLS kept it a secret? I personally would have not been so open or as confident about having the surgery if I hadn't already known others who had a successful surgery. So I feel it is my duty to others around me to educate them, and in doing this I feel it becomes more acceptable. #3 Also I feel that those people who are quick to judge us are that way because of people like Star Jones. They judge us because they think it is easy to loose weight and say well look at Star she lost weight just diet and exercise why do you have to have surgery just get your lazy ass off the couch and run!! This mentality makes me MAD! By being out and open we can change the world! #4 And Last but not least when you lie or smear the truth each time that has to take away from your pride. Again don't let others get you down STAND UP AND BE PROUD SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOF TOPS I HAD GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY I AM HAPPY & HEALTHY AND I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT YOU THINK. When some one asks about my weight loss I tell them I had WLS and it went great I feel fabulous. Not many people will ask any other questions. I have never had a negative remark. I do get the occasional "I didn't think you weighed that much to be able to have the surgery?" But in all everything has been great and it makes me feel GREAT! Take my advice and be proud of who you are! Brandy
