Digital Scales - What kind do you have?

So my scale is whack. If I step on it three times it tells me three totally different weights. Sometimes I'll get lucky and get two of the same - but never three times in a row. I decided this morning that I needed a new one. The one I was using was a digital "Health-o-metrics". So today I tested a bunch of scales at Bed Bath and Beyond and I bought a brand called "THINNER" (hahaha). While I was in the store I weighed the same all three times (207 with jeans and shoes on!). I got home took off my clothes and weighed and I was 204.5 - one of the times and 205.0 the other two times which is at least close enough. ANYWAY _ my question is for those of you that have a digital scale how accurate is it? Does it tell you something different each time you step on it?

If you do not have it on solid ground like putting it on carpet versus tile it can make a big difference and give different readings each tme.

Well, it sounds like you have it set up right. Also, it sounds like you have a better one now that this one appears to be more consistant. I bet it was the scale itself and hopefully your problems will be over. I had gone for a very long time not having any idea what I weighed because all of the phsycian scales I had access to only weighed up to 350lbs. I found out just this year what I really weighed when I went to my bariatric surgeon's office - 412lbs! I decided then I'd buy a digital scale that I could use to keep a record of my WL journey and knew I would need one for the long haul. I bought a professional medical scale that measured up to 500 lbs and have been impressed with it since but it cost me about $350 so it better have worked! When I hit less than 350 lbs it was sort of an eye opener for me because I once again could weigh myself on regular triple beam scales found in most doctor's offices. I know the scale is accurate but definitely do find I often weigh more later in the day than first thing in the morning. Some days I weigh several more pounds later in the day. I assume when I get to goal I won't fluctuate as much as I'm sure fluids have a lot to do with it. Anyway, I hope all your concerns are over with the new scale and you find that you found one you love now.

Hey there Megan - I have a Weigh****chers scale (the irony!). I've found it to be consistent. I had read somewhere that scales don't work as well in humid environments like the bathroom. Maybe if you place it somewhere else it will work better. Take care Megan, Heather

Hey Megan, My scale is a Heath O Meter. You can put 4 peoples information (height, goal weight etc) in it. It measures BMI as well as weight. Mine is VERY accurate. I mean it's within .5lbs of my surgeon's scale! It was one of the only scales that would weigh up to 350lbs (which is about where I started). I like it because it tracks my progress, or you can just step on it and not choose one of the 4 profile buttons. It's pretty cool! Patti

I also recently went through the same thing with my old scale, I also marched to bed bath and beyond and baught the same darn thing, the "thinner"! I weighed myself on it the day of my three month dr. foillowup and it was the same as the doctors so I think it is pretty right on the money.

I find on some digital scales I can 'make' it weight less by the way I stand!! These aren't cheap ones either - they do the body fat & water % too. I'm frustrated that they all weigh different, especially as I don't get to weigh at the doctors - no follow-up as travelled to Europe.

I have a cheap digital scale I bought at Target. It's pretty consistent, but it's 6 pounds off from Dr. Averbach's scale. My mom got this really cool scale from Avon that does your weight, BMI, body fat count and something else. It's pretty neat and I'll probably end up getting the same one. I think it's awesome how much weight you've lost. You look so good girl! luv ya!
