Anyone else still having a hard time eating?

I'm 12 weeks out and still eat a very limited variety of foods. I keep trying to eat different kinds of meat, but my pouch revolts each time. I either get nauseous or pain in my pouch that can last for many hours. I have found that ground meat will usually go down without too much problem. I'm trying to find more sources of protein to eat. I'm currently surviving on cheese and beans (like chili). I also haven't been very successful with fruits or veggies yet. I can't wait to eat a real salad!!! It sounds like you all are eating a good variety, and I'm just wondering if I'm alone in my boring diet. Hugs, Jami

Could it be that you possibly are not getting your meat moist enough?? I can eat chicken, pork and turkey but they must be moist. I will put gravy on them and that helps. Also make sure that you are chewing your food really well. This is my biggest problem! it is hard to slow down your eating when you were a fast eater to begin with. Vegetables are just now starting to be ok for me as well as some fruit. Just remember to not eat the skins on the fruit. That is a lot harder to chew and digest. Everyone told me that salad was very hard to digest but I have not had a problem. I am 13 weeks out and eating ok, I still have some problems. When you introduce new foods do it one at a time for a day or two. That way you really know what is not working for you. Hang in there and before you kow it you will be eating more. Good Luck

I find I can eat many types of meat but only in small bites and they must be chewed very well. I've been able to eat almost all fruits and most veggies and often eat more fruit than I should because it's one of the things that I can tolerate very well - especially melons, cantaloupe, etc. I don't even have problems with grape skins. I kind of wish I couldn't though because I need to focus more on protein instead. I don't care much for chili and have a hard time with any foods with grease or fats like that but I guess that's a good thing. Some days I live off of baked beans mostly because I have no porblems with that. I figure the beans are good for the protein but I am sure the other ingredients like brown sugar is bad for me. Overall, I think my diet has been pretty boring. I get asked to go to lunch a lot but I can't tolerate most places to eat. I never really noticed just how many places serve mostly fried foods or things on bread that I can't tolerate now. Yesterday I went to a Black Eyed Pea restaurant and had a pot roast meal. I focused on the pot roast for protein and it went down easy because it was so moist. I tried a few weeks ago and couldn't handle it so things are changing. I had no problems with the mashed potatoes or corn that came with it but did not eat much of that purposely. They bring out some awsome tasting rolls and cornbread before your meal and I did try some of each but couldn't handle that too well but that's a good thing too. Nothing made me feel sick but it was uncomfortable. Today my entire department is going to Salt Grass Steakhouse for someone's birthday so I'm going to try a filet mignon as it's the most tender. I'll see how that goes but I normally can only tolerate a few bites of steak before I'm full.

here is a couple of possiblities. the meat is not lean enough, I can not eat any beef that has more than 5% fat in it. I go with straight sirloin steaks. I can not eat more than 1.0 oz without getting pain and heartburt, indigestion and a wretched feeling. I swear at 11 weeks, I still have a tiny pouch. I can eat lunch meat but wow, the gas is horrible. I like turkey and chicken best, they are the easiest to digest. I tried some shredded bbq meats, that was okay for a couple of days, and then it didnt sit well, so I have to give them away.

I can only eat chicken - no red meats at all as they don't go down well and cause pain. Eggs are a source of protein - I have them scrambled. Have you tried them? I've only just been able to tolorate veggies OK within the last 2 weeks. Do you use protein shakes?
