My surgeon's plan calls for no carbs until 6 months out. I'm so jealous of those of you eating Ritz Wheat crackers, lean pockets, pintos and such. Just out of curiosity what is the number of grams protein you try to reach daily? thanks, mandy

Hi Mandy I can eat carbs, but only a small amount at a time as they fill me up quickly. I was a huge pasta eater before WLS - now I have pasta occassionally and can only eat about 2oz (2 spoonsful) which is much less. I used to have a full bowl and then second helpings. Anyway, I try and get around 60 - 80 grams of protein a day, but I'm not very good at measuring. I tend to guestimate most of the time although protein shake is easy to look at the label ha ha.

No carbs here either, not until I reach 75% of my weight loss. Protein is also 60-80 but it seems like I never can reach that much from eating alone so I do fall back on the Carb free Isopure powder drink, 50 grams per. Debbie

Hi Mandy: My nutritionist wants me to get in about 1000 cal. a day - with at least 64 grams of protein (this is based on my height - I am really short). I usually get in about 80 to 90 grams of protein in each day... The nutritionist wants me to eat a fruit with each meal - so I guess you could say I eat carbs...

actually he did say that it is a modification of starvation, but I seriously do not feel like I am starving. I am not hungry. I got the munchies tonight and I ate 3 pieces of granola and was fine. I was right at 125 today and didnt get hungry. I look great. I feel great. I still have all my hair and not all my flab. life is good. my doctor did only make a .5 oz pouch and while I have stretched it out some, not very much.

Wow! That's great that you are doing so well with the program! I never thought to ask my doctor the size of my pouch..hmmm....that's a good question to ask him. Keep up the great work and hope to chat with you again. Take Care Jeni

to 'help' me, I cook up a whole steak and then I cut and weight it and put into individual zip lock baggies, that way, I can pop one in the microwave for 30 seconds and I have instant food. it takes forever to digest 1 oz of pure beef, so it stays with me for 6 hours. there are times that my mouth gets so tired of a texture that I think my brain will go into overload, like today, I have been chewing on that sirloin for two days, finally my husband had pity on me and cooked chicken. I put a huge (relative) portion on my plate, about 1.25 oz of chicken and 1.25 oz of vegetables. he thought for sure I was over eating, but I ate until I was full, all of the veggies and .9 oz of the chicken. I told him that I would eat until I was full and then stop, but he was sure I was stretching my tummy too far. what I have found is that in the morning, I can barely get down an entire ounce. by dinner I can get down nearly two ounces. I am not sure why the tummy relaxes during the day unless it is the hot tea that does it. but seems interesting to me.

Hi Mandy! My Dietician has me aiming for 50-60 grams of protein each day. And she also said to try and get in 100 grams of carbs each day but I never reach that. Deanna
