My name is Paige and I am from a small town near Raleigh, NC. I have an eight year old son who the Lord speaks to and tells him to eat candy and junk food (that is what he told me yesterday). I had my surgery on 5/15/06 and a couple of weeks ago I had lost 43lbs. I know that I have lost more but I only weight once a month (I am not a slave to the scale ). I tried on my old reliable gray suit today and I looked awful (which is good) it was way too big. I think I am a size 20 bottoms and maybe a size 22 tops. I work out at least 3 times a week (walking and light weights) For those of you that are not able to get motivated to move . . I read an article today that said to start small, slow, and simple. I don't like to work out - especially the sweating part. But I like the results. I am working on my 6-pack . I have 1 pack so I have 5 more to get Wishing everyone well as they continue on their journey. Phenom

Hi my name is Dawn and I had my surgery on 5/17/06. I started out at 125 and I am now down to 166 (total of 61#'s) I have 34 to go to get to my goal weight. I have had several complications since my surgery, but for the last 3 weeks I have been able to eat and drink and keep it all down. I still have some problems but with my doctors help and expertise I will overcome all of it. I hope everyone is doing well.

I am Kaycee. I am a 46 year old widow and I live in Port Arthur, Texas. I have two children, a daughter 19 and a son 22, both of whom still live at home with me. I am a college student. I will be returning to school Friday (!) after an almost two year hiatus due to mobility issues. I had a lap RNY on May 22. My surgery went beautifully and I have had no complications. I do struggle to get my water, protein and vitamins in. I have lost 71.5 lbs. post-op, as of my appointment two weeks ago. I first saw my surgeon on March 29, 2005. I was then at my highest weight of 658 and was bedridden. He told me that I needed to be below 500 to have surgery and sent me home, I imagine that he thought, to die. I did, however, lose 204.5 lbs. over the next year and was 453.5 when I had my surgery. I have regained my mobility, although I still have issues there. I am able to walk around the house and short distances, but still use my electric scooter for things like shopping and school. My weight (as of 8-8-06) is 382, making a total loss of 276 lbs.

Thanks! I am a Social Work major. I am a Junior. I started college after my husband's death, in 2001. I weighed about 500 lbs. when I started, I never could have done it without the scooter. Over the next several years though, my weight kept climbing and my mobility kept decreasing until I became bedridden in 2005. I did manage to get one course in after that online, but then school came to a halt for a while. Yes, my life is totally different than it was a year and a hal*****hat first visit to my surgeon was just 17 months ago this week. Since then I have not only lost almost half of my body weight and regained my ability to walk, but during that time we spent 7 months out our home, displaced by Hurricane Rita. (Thank you God for wonderful, welcoming relatives!) In these last 4 months, we have moved home, I had surgery, and I met a wonderful guy that I am dating. (The first since my husband died.) And now, as of this past Friday, I am back in school. Life has definately been a whirlwind lately!

Hi all, Looks like I am the only Lap Band WLS here so far! I am 36. I live in the Dallas Texas area with my wife and 8 month old son. Also have an 11 year old from a previous marraige. All is well and nice so meet all the other May WLS. I have lost 78 pounds so far which is pretty fast for the band, but I am certainly not complaining. Keep up the good work everyone!

Hi, I'm from a small town in northern Indiana. I am happily married with two sons, ages 15 and 13. I had my lap RNY on 5-3 with a complication following. I had massive bilateral pulmonary emboli and had to re-admitted to the hospital, in ICU for 7 days. That whole experience was something I will never forget. I am a nurse in that ICU so I got first hand knowledge about what patients go through. I am down 70 pounds since surgery. Believe me, I did have my share of doubts about having the surgery for the first while but am recently feeling better. I especially like this board because it seems like the issues we are dealing with are very much alike. I have just recently heard about obesityhelp.com, wish I had found this site earlier. I enjoy scrapbooking, volleyball and watching my boys play football, baseball, and wrestle.

Hi, My name is Christine and I live in Brooktondale, NY just outside Ithaca. I am 42 and my boyfriend and I have been happily together for six years. I have a 17 year old daughter and he has a nineteen year son; they are both amazing people. I had a Lap RNY on May 10th and have lost 78 pounds thus far. I am eating about 850 calories a day. I didn't have any complications and I can eat just about anything. I tend to stay away from foods that don't make me feel good which means I eat very little bread, starches, dairy and high fat foods. After teaching early childhood for 14 years I decided to go back to school two years ago. I graduated from community college in May ( I missed the actual graduation) and was accepted to Cornell. I am studying Human Development and I want to do my graduate work in Human Development and Education. Thank you all for sharing your journeys with such humour and honesty. Our Board is fun and welcoming. Warmly, Christine

Hi! My name is Alisa and I had RNY surgery on May 15th, 2006. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. When I started this procedure, I weighed 270, and as of today I'm at 207.5. I've been hovering around 205.5 - 207.5 for over a week now, and am starting to get a little down because I was hoping to be able to post that I'm in ONEDERLAND by this week. I am going to try to increase my protein and liquids, and change my exercise around a little this week to see if I can jump start the scale to start back moving down. I guess I can be called a "lurker" because although I'm reading posts daily, I very rarely comment or reply. Thanks for asking us all to say hello - maybe it'll help me come out my shell and post more often!
