How are you about taking your vitamins, getting in all of your protien and drinking all of your water? VITAMINS: It seems that during the weekdays I do much better then the weekends. I have a good routine going for me M-F. On the weekends it's another story. I'm so "forgetful". I usually only get in one dose each day. PROTIEN: I'm very good about drinking a protien shake daily (20g) and have no problem eating more then the remainder in required protien for the day. WATER: I am fortunate in the fact that I'm still able to "gulp" water. I know a lot of people after having WLS aren't able to. This being so, I drink at least 80-100oz just while working out. I then would guesstimate that I drink 40-60oz throughout the remainder of the day at various times. Water, crystal light and sugar free koolaid (all 0 calories) are the only things that I drink.

I took someone's advice from the main board. The night before, I put all my vitamins in a ziploc baggie & carry it in my purse. It keeps me more accountable. Protein: so, so. Some days are better than others. I do my scoop and a half Nectar protein in the AM, other than that, it's a crap shoot. Water: no. I can't gulp yet, so it is not easy to get it all in. Darlene

Hi Meghan, I have a cousin in Glen Burnie. How am I doing? Vitamins: I take a Multi, Repliva (iron), 2 Citracal 2x, biotin and selenium daily. I occasionally forget my second dose of Citracal. I take my Repliva first thing in the morning. The Repliva is great, I don't have any constipation from it and I take it for 21 days and then I am off for 7 days. I go for my 3 month follow up on Wednesday and I am curious to see the results of my bloodwork. Protein: I try to get all my protein from food but if I see I am falling short I drink a glass of water with a splash of OJ and a scoop of Unjury Unflavored (20 grams). I shoot for a minimum of 50 grams a day. Water: This is where I have the greatest challenge. I keep bottles of water everywhere because I feel like I am always falling short. I can drink my own water (well) but I can't drink regular tap water. For some reason I do best with Aquafina but there are times when even that does feel good. I do best when I add a splash of juice or an Emergen-C to my water. I don't care for Crystal Lite.

Hi there - I'm good about the protein and water, but have struggled with the calcium and magnesium. I take 2 flintstones wtih iron/day. I have a sublingual B12 once a week. I also have a calcium/magnesium drink, but I don't think it has enough mg that we are supposed to have. Is this consistent with what others are doing? Thanks! Heather

Yeah I need this post.... thanks Megan! When I journal I do well... but I have fallen off that good habit and... so have my numbers. I am not getting enough protein, water, or taking all my meds. I know not good. I just ordered from this site... The Daily Diet Minder... it looks like a nice tracking system. I tried fitday, writing on paper... yikes.... I felt like I needed something like the Weigh****chers Journal but for WLS... and I found it on this site... ok enough rambling. Protein... I have a Isopure Shake (25grams) made w/ 8 oz of skim milk every day = 33 plus whatever I eat in protein. The past 2-3 weeks I stopped journalling so I would guess that I have only been getting 50 some Water.... depends.. most days I get in the 64. I know I need to get in more Meds/Vitimins... I forget here and there but especially w/ the Acctual, not sure why. Kristen

I'm getting better but still not where I need to be. VITAMINS: I forgot to take my vitamins like 4 days this week! I can't stand the chewable so I take tablets and it seems to work out fine when I remember to take them. I've tested them to make sure they dissolve OK within 5 minutes of putting them in a glass of water. I take a generic Centrum and a prenatal vitamin every day (for the extra iron mainly but they have extra folic acid - not a big issue but can't hurt). I also try to get in some Viactiv Multivitamin and also Calcium chews every day. At least one or two of each. They are like eating a peice of chocolate candy. They really don't take bad at all. PROTEIN: I know I should be getting in 80 - 100gms a day but I do't think I even come close to that. This is an area I really need to improve on! WATER: I'm getting better. I think most days I'm getting in at least my 64oz but there are days that I don't. I am not dehydrated though so I think I'm getting enough.

OK I'm fessing up. The only thing I'm good with is water, although I can't drink plain water but have it in other ways - hot tea, crystal light etc. If I don't drink enough I get recurring bladder infections which are horrid I was doing good on my vitamins until I ran out and haven't bought anymore yet - I really MUST. Oh, yes I'm doing OK on protein I think too as long as I suppliment with protein drink. I've started having one instead of Breakfast cereal which helps. I make concious (SP)decisions to try to go for protein food first before carbs, etc. Do you eat many vegetables and fruit? I'm not as I find them hard to get down and by the time I've had protein often I'm too full. I'm hoping (when I take my vitamins) that the vits will compensate for this.

I haven't been eating a lot of vegetables but I am sure I'm eating too much fruit. I still find I can't tolerate a lot of food but can always tolerate almost any fruit. I can eat bananas, canteloupe, melons, grapes, etc. Are these bad for us due ot the sugar content or is it OK because it is not processed sugar?
